UPDATE: The Arizona Cardinals will not have a public practice on Wednesday, Aug. 8, so admission will not be charged that day.

Missouri Western State University presents the following information to help football fans prepare to attend the 2012 Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp presented by Heartland Health July 27 – Aug. 17 on the Missouri Western campus.

CAMP PARKING

All fans coming to MWSU for training camp will be directed to park in Lot H, which is the closest lot to the practice fields and Spratt Memorial Stadium. A daily fee of $5 will be charged per car and $15 for buses and recreational vehicles. Parking attendants can accept cash only. New this year, fans are encouraged to purchase daily parking in advance online at www.gogriffons.com. Sales will open on Monday, July 23rd. Click here to go directly to the ticketing site. For fans that plan to attend camp on multiple days, MWSU will offer a season parking pass for $35 that may be purchased in Looney Complex 229 during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The season pass will also be available beginning July 23rd.

Lot H will open two hours prior to the scheduled practice time per day.

An ample number of accessible parking spaces for people with disabilities are available in Lot H.

If Lot H fills up, all cars entering campus via James McCarthy Drive (from Faraon) will be directed to Lot J in front of the Looney Complex. All cars entering campus from Mitchell Avenue will be directed to Lot K in front of Popplewell Hall.

SEATING

The Chiefs will conduct practice most often on the grass practice fields north of Spratt Memorial Stadium, where bleacher seating is available. New for this year, many of those seats will be shaded for the comfort of fans. In addition, fans are permitted to sit on the hill in front of the VIP tents. Ample standing room is also available.

PAID ADMISSION DAYS

During two days of camp, MWSU will charge a $5 admission fee, with children 3 and under admitted FREE. Admission will be charged on the following days:

Saturday, Aug. 4 – Family Fun Day presented by American Family – 1:30 p.m. team practice. The event will take place in Spratt Stadium with practice taking place on the game field. There will be a team autograph session before practice, so arrive early. The Chiefs Cheerleaders will also perform.

Tuesday, Aug. 7 – Chiefs/Cardinals Practice – 3:20 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to buy tickets to Family Fun Day and the Chiefs/Cardinals practices online at gogriffons.com beginning this Monday, July 23rd. Click here to go directly to the ticketing site. Tickets will also be offered the day of the event beginning two hours prior to practice time. Cash, check or credit card will be accepted at the gate.

ONLINE TICKETING

As mentioned above, MWSU encourages fans to take advantage of MWSU’s new online ticketing system when purchasing daily parking passes and event tickets. GATE OPENING & CLOSING TIMES

Gates to training camp will open each day one hour prior to the start of practice time and will close thirty minutes after practice concludes. On days where practice takes place on the Spratt Stadium game field, gates will open two hours prior to the scheduled start time.

HEAT PRECAUTIONS

In anticipation of extreme heat, MWSU and the Chiefs have provided the following accommodations;

– Shaded seating – As mentioned above, approximately 400 shaded seats at the training camp site will be available on the east side of the fields on a first come/first served basis.

– Shade Tents – MWSU is also providing shade tents other than those over the bleachers for fans to get relief from the sun during practice

– Misting Tent – The Chiefs will provide a misting tent for fans to cool down during practices

– Heartland EMS – The official sponsor of Chiefs Training Camp, Heartland Health, will have EMS personnel on hand at each practice to attend to fans needing assistance.

Fans are allowed to bring in one sealed bottle of water to the training camp site. Water and other beverages are also available for purchase in the Hy-Vee Food Court.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Several special events will be taking place during training camp, including:

3rd Annual Red Rally – Friday, July 27th – 2 PM – 3:15 p.m. – Celebrate the opening of this year’s training camp by attending the Chiefs Red Rally presented by the City of St. Joseph and the St. Joseph Metro Chamber of Commerce. The rally will take place on the track inside Spratt Stadium just outside the main gates to training camp. The first 500 in attendance will receive a free hot dog and soda compliments of Hy-Vee. Music will be provided by the Phil Vandel Band. The kids can enjoy the Up, Up & Away Balloon Artist, and fans are encouraged to participate in the St. Joseph Welcomes the Chiefs Banner Contest. The winners will receive cash prizes.

Community Blood Center of St. Joseph Summer Blood Drive – Friday, July 27th – The Community Blood Center will conduct a blood drive on the opening day of training camp between 2 – 6 p.m. in Looney Complex. Fans can schedule an appointment online at www.savealifenow.org or call 1-888-647-4040. In conjunction with the blood drive, the National Marrow Donor Program will conduct a Be the Match Registry Drive, swabbing cheek cells from those who would like to be listed as potential bone marrow donors.

CONCESSIONS

The Hy-Vee Food Court, located just steps from the practice fields, will have many concession items to choose from including various foods, drinks, candies and ice cream treats. A beer tent is also available within view of the field for those fans 21 and older.

CHIEFS MERCHANDISE

The Chiefs merchandise tent is located just inside the main entrance of camp and features hundreds of items to choose from, including apparel and Chiefs tickets.

CHIEFS KIDS ZONE

The Chiefs Kids Zone once again returns to training camp and is located behind the Spratt Stadium scoreboard. The Kids Zone features inflatable jumping castles, football-related activities and, new for this year, a rock-climbing wall on select days.

SCHEDULE INFORMATION

As a reminder, morning walk-throughs are NOT open to the public. In addition, practices that are moved inside the Griffon Indoor Sports Complex because of inclement weather are NOT open to the public. Training camp schedule information can change at a moment’s notice, so fans should check the official website of the Chiefs, kcchiefs.com, before coming to camp.
