St. Joseph, Mo. – April 25, 2012 – The Missouri Western State University Concert Chorale will join the St. Joseph Community Chorus as the Chorus presents its Spring Masterworks Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at Grace Evangelical Church, 5103 South 50th. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for students and free for children 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the door, from a chorus member or from the Missouri Western department of music.
The concert will feature three works accompanied by full orchestra. The first two works are by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Five Mystical Songs” and “In Windsor Forest.” The chorus’ founding artistic director, Frank Thomas, will conduct “Five Mystical Songs” as the current artistic director, Dr. David Benz, will serve as the baritone soloist. Dr. Benz is also director of choral activities at Missouri Western. Sarah Bauer from Kansas City will serve as the soprano soloist for “In Windsor Forest.”
The third and final work of the Masterworks Concert is “Te Deum” by Anton Bruckner. The four soloists include Dale Morehouse, director of vocal studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, and three UMKC graduates: Bauer, Jennifer Powell and Ben Gulley.
