The course will meet weekly during the spring 2024 semester and will culminate in a 9-day trip to Belize May 5-13, 2024. The trip will include two days of activities on the mainland, including exploring Mayan pyramids, taking a traditional ethnobotany tour, and visiting the Belize Zoo. The remainder will be spent at the Belize TREC research/education station on Ambergris Caye, for five days of snorkeling in different locations on the Belize Barrier Reef. The expected trip fee is ~$3,000, which will cover roundtrip airfare from Kansas City as well as transportation, lodging, meals, and entrance fees in Belize. BIO 220: Natural and Cultural History of Belize is a 3-credit elective course open to all MWSU students.
