Taylor Fluharty is a mathematics major from a small town who wanted to attend college on a small campus. On her first tour of Missouri Western she “fell in love with the hometown feel.” Taylor was able to create personal bonds with her professors, who made her feel at home 200 miles away from her family. She participated in a multi-college research team after her freshman year, and tutored in the developmental math program and in the Center for Academic Support on campus. She completed an internship with Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. in St. Joseph, where she was hired on full time before she graduated. “In high school, I thought I would only have a few options in how to use my degree – luckily, I was very wrong.” Missouri Western provided Taylor with the atmosphere and opportunities she needed to succeed.
