Thank you for your interest in Missouri Western’s Social Work Program!

Missouri Western State University’s BSW Program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation, our national regulatory body.

Accreditation of a baccalaureate or master’s social work program by the Council on Social Work Education’ Commission on Accreditation indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of program quality evaluated through a peer review process, which involves a lengthy period of self-study, an on-site visit by a team of social work educators, and a review by the Commission on Accreditation.  Accreditation means that our social work program meets CSWE’s high standards and effectively prepares students for beginning-level careers as social workers.  An accredited program has sufficient resources to meet its mission and goals and the Commission on Accreditation has verified that it demonstrates compliance with all sections of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods of an accredited program.  Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.

CSWE has recognized the quality of Missouri Western’s Social Work Program since 1979.

We look forward to talking with you further about the social work program and about social work as a career. This website is designed to provide current and prospective students with a wealth of information about the social work profession and Missouri Western’s Social Work Program.
