Missouri Western State University is committed to the pursuit of excellence and attracting the most promising international students to our classrooms. That is why we have established the Black and Gold Scholarship to recruit the best and brightest students from around the world.

Black and Gold Scholarship

The Black and Gold Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that renews each year! It is available for new international undergraduate students.

How it works: Awards are decided on the basis of your GPA as calculated by our international admissions team. Because Missouri Western recognizes that U.S. standardized testing is not equally available in all parts of the world, there is no SAT or ACT required for the Black and Gold Scholarship (or admission). The best part is that you are not at risk of losing your scholarship as long as you maintain a 2.0 GPA at Missouri Western State University.

There is no extra application for the Black and Gold Scholarship. All awards will be made with your acceptance letter. Transfer students can learn more about the Griffon Transfer Scholarship for transfer students here.

Competitive Scholarships

To be eligible for competitive scholarships, you will need to complete the scholarship application within your GoldLink account. Deadline: April 1

HOW TO APPLY FOR COMPETITIVE SCHOLARSHIPS:

Go to missouriwestern.edu/finaid.
Select Scholarships and Grants from the menu.
Select Apply Now.
Once in the system, select Create an Account.
Once your account is created, log in and complete your application.

Expense Estimates – International (Non-immigrant Visa Holders)

Proof of financial support is required to receive your I-20. Below you will find the estimated costs for two semesters (9 months) for the 2025-2026 academic year. Please note these are estimated totals.

*Tuition and fees costs for the 2026-27 academic year based on two semesters containing 12 undergraduate or 9 graduate hours.

**Undergraduate living expenses based on Scanlon Hall and the Unlimited 7 + $100 Flex Plan for the academic year.

***Graduate living expenses are estimates for average rental cost per huduser.gov based on double occupancy ($1,050 each person for a shared apartment with 2 people), this includes shared gas and electricity cost, and groceries for two people for 12 months.

****Airfare ($1500 round trip), bedding and personal comfort items ($1100) and Textbooks & Supplies ($1200).

*****Health Insurance Plan is automatically included on the student bill. Waivers permitted for US-based employer plans for dependents or for visiting students on program sponsored plans. (i.e. buying your own travel insurance plan in your country will not waive the health insurance plan). Note: The USA health insurance system has user costs when insurance is accessed. Copays, Coinsurance, and Deductibles are not represented in the costs estimates on this page.

******Dependent cost is an estimate of the cost differential for housing, utilities, food, and added school costs. Actual amount will vary. Used purely as funding source demonstration of student funding to support their family and studies in the United States.

I-20 Costs for Travel, Health Insurance, Personal, etc. include: Textbooks and Personal Expenses, Health Insurance, and New Orientation Fee. Additional costs for leisure travel, social events, clothes, and summer term tuition and undergraduate living expenses, are not included in estimates.

The above costs are estimated in good faith to demonstrate student funding to support their studies in the United States.
