Western was graced by the presence of both dogs and cupcakes during the event \u201cPuppies and Pastries.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hosted by the Student Honors Organization<\/a> (SHO), an organization focused on leadership and growing campus involvement, \u201cPuppies and Pastries\u201d brought awareness of St. Joseph\u2019s local animal shelter<\/a> to Western, and they brought some furry four-legged friends along with them. Owners brought their dogs to sit outside Kelley Commons<\/a> so students would get the chance to love on them as they walked to and from the union, while SHO sold cupcakes.<\/p>\n Many smiles and tail wags were seen during the event while students spent time with the dogs. SHO member Madelyn O\u2019Connell covered the pastry table during the event. She mentioned how happy and welcoming the dogs were to the students and how the event not only lifted the students\u2019 spirits but helped raise money for the local animal shelter.<\/p>\n \u201cThe dogs on campus today are rescue dogs, and a portion of our proceeds goes back to St. Joseph\u2019s local animal shelter,\u201d O\u2019Connell said. \u201cIt\u2019s a team effort.\u201d<\/p>\n Many students were surprised by the dogs being on campus. Freshman Delaney Jorgensen loved seeing the dogs as she passed through Blum<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was really unexpected and definitely brightened my day,\u201d Jorgensen said. \u201cI really appreciated the event.\u201d<\/p>\n Puppies and Pastries was an uplifting event that helped destress Western\u2019s students and raise awareness for St. Joseph\u2019s animal shelter. Who knew Griffons and dogs got along so well?<\/p>\n\n\t\t
