Why did you decide on Western<\/a>?<\/span><\/p>\n

There is a connection between a music company in South Korea and here, so I auditioned two times in Korea. I then got a scholarship, so I could afford it.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are you interested in that most people aren\u2019t?<\/span><\/p>\n

Salsa dance.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your favorite thing about campus?<\/span><\/p>\n

Kemper Hall. I had two recitals in there and it was pretty cool. It is modern and pretty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is a person you look up to?<\/span><\/p>\n

Rico McNeela<\/a> (conductor and music director of the St. Joseph symphony<\/a>, also teaches violin and viola at Western). He pushes me a lot to do better and he has really encouraged me a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is your favorite teacher on campus?<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Chelsey Hamm (music theory teacher and assistant professor of music theory). She is really organized so I like that a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the best thing about where you\u2019re from?<\/span><\/p>\n

I miss riding bicycles. We have a sidewalk and road for our highway and we don\u2019t have that here which is pretty bad.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the worst song you\u2019ve ever heard?<\/span><\/p>\n

Korean pop songs, they\u2019ve put English and Korean together so it doesn\u2019t work very well.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your favorite day of the year & why?<\/span><\/p>\n

Christmas. In Korea, we have snow, but I never got a white Christmas at home and now I do.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the best compliment you\u2019ve ever received?<\/span><\/p>\n

That I look like a goddess. My nickname on campus was Asian Goddess. <\/span><\/p>\n

Who inspires you?<\/span><\/p>\n

Yo-Yo Ma, the famous cellist. He made me come to the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who are the three most significant members in your life?<\/span><\/p>\n

My whole family, my boyfriend and my best friend Seoyeon.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the title of the current chapter of your life?<\/span><\/p>\n

Bright side. Because I came from the dark side, I go through a lot of adversity and \u00a0language barriers, as well as financial problems. It\u2019s challenging as an international student.<\/span><\/p>\n

What gives your life meaning?<\/span><\/p>\n

As a Christian, we are a good example for people. Whenever they see me, I want them to see a good Christian.<\/span><\/p>\n

What has been your greatest achievement?<\/span><\/p>\n

Audition for graduate school.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your youngest\/favorite childhood memory?<\/span><\/p>\n

Holding my grandfather\u2019s hands and walking to the hill. After that, I lost him so that\u2019s a good memory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
