About the Certificate:

This program is designed to help participants get started with geographic information systems (GIS). Learn basic skills and terminology of GIS, featuring ESRI’s ArcGIS. Learn how to find existing data and create data for your organization to make customized maps that best serve the needs of you and your stakeholders or customers. Learn how to build interactive web maps with ArcGIS Online, Esri’s web-based mapping software. Gain new perspectives as you customize data and create web maps. Create smart, data-driven maps and use intuitive analysis tools to gain location intelligence. Work effectively across your organization by collaboratively building and using maps. Share your insights with specific people or the entire world.

Program Topics

Week 1: What is GIS? File types, attribute tables, data structure and coordinate systems. Week 3: Creating new data and editing data. The Power of ArcGIS Online.
Week 2: Raster and vector data introduction. Finding and managing existing data. Week 4: The Power of ArcGIS Add-ons (Business Analyst, Community Analyst, etc.). Applying GIS to your organization.

Tuition

Tuition for the Fall 2021 Basics of GIS Certificate program is $200. Tuition is non-refundable and due in-full in order for the application to be processed. The program is first come, first served.

Class starts November 1, 2021. Classes are all on Monday from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. No class the week of November 22.
