Studying away can be expensive, but that does not make it impossible.
In many cases, the financial aid that you already receive to attend Missouri Western can be used to defray the costs of studying abroad. Talk with staff in the MWSU Financial Aid office about how to help finance your study away experience. Fill out as much of this form as you can, and bring it with you to your Financial Aid appointment:
You may also apply for other sources of funding. The links below will introduce you to an example of the types of external funding opportunities available. We encourage you to search the Internet for other opportunities.
Missouri Western Study Away Scholarship
The Study Away Office is sometimes able to assist students with a small scholarship. Use the form below to apply. These internal scholarships can range up to $500, but there are a limited number available each year.
- Scholarships applications for semester-long programs are evaluated as they are received. A three-person committee awards the scholarships based on your academic record and the strength of your essay. Really put some thought into your essay for the best results.
- When money is gone for the academic year, no further scholarships can be awarded until the following year.
- You should apply for the MWSU Study Away scholarship as soon as your plans for travel are complete. Scholarships will only be awarded after you have been accepted into your host school or program and you have accepted your placement there.
- Students participating in faculty-led Study Away courses are not eligible for the MWSU Study Away Scholarship.
