From Oct. 1-31, the Society for Collegiate Journalists will host a professional clothing drive to benefit the career closet. The career closet is facilitated by the Career Development Center and allows students-in-need to shop for donated business clothes and accessories in preparation for job interviews and other professional opportunities.

The career closet is seeking items the students could wear to job interviews and in the workplace. These items include men’s ties, shirts, jackets, slacks, belts and shoes and women’s shirts, jackets, slacks, skirts, dresses and shoes. The program is looking for a wide variety of styles and sizes.

“The clothing drive is something that I recommend everybody get involved in,” president of the Society for Collegiate Journalists, Zoë Jones said. “We’re a university that is proud of our applied learning aspect, and by helping students get the clothes they need for their jobs, we’re setting them up to be more prepared.”

Donations may be dropped off at the following locations:
Spratt 105 – 8 AM to 4:30 PM
There will also be a bin in the hallway on the 2nd floor of Murphy.
