style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which occurs. See Levels of Emergency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alert<\/strong> is the process of com<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">municating information about the emergency to the campus community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Respond<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is quick action <\/span>to save lives, protect <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">property and environment, and contain and stabilize the incident. Response also includes <\/span>search and rescue, emergency medical care, <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">firefighting, and security.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Recovery<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">could be short-term or long-term efforts. Short-<\/span>term recovery eff<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">orts will focus on <\/span>restoring vital services t<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o the university and providing the basi<\/span>c needs of staff and students, such as temporary food and shelter, rest<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">oring critical services and functions.
