MWSU Information Privacy Policy

This notification is provided to help you understand how Missouri Western State University (MWSU) protects the privacy of your confidential information.  We believe your confidential information should not be compromised.  To obtain more information, please contact the Risk Manager at (816) 271-4466.

All MWSU departments follow the same general privacy policy.  The college is committed to ensuring that protected financial information is adequately secured.  We will maintain standards to ensure that your confidential information is secure at all times.

Information Covered By This Policy
Our policy applies to all personally identifiable financial information (“personal information”) about you that is obtained by MWSU in provision of the various services available.  Our policy will continue to cover information we may collect about you during the course of your relationship with the college as well as after the relationship has ended.

Limitations on Employee Access To Information
Each MWSU employee is expected to know and follow the college’s information security policy.  Employee access to personal information is limited to those with a legitimate reason to know such information.  All employees are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of protected information.   Employees who violate the policy are subject to disciplinary measures.

Protection of Information Via Established Security Measures
MWSU is committed to the security of your confidential information.  All data processing systems will be kept in a secure environment to protect your account information from being accessed by unauthorized parties.  MWSU will grant access to customer information only in accordance with our internal security policies and applicable laws.  These policies and procedures will be regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with federal and state standards.

Other Information Sharing
The college may share information about you to other organizations as required or permitted by law.  Examples of such disclosures include but are not limited to subpoenas, servicing your account(s) or fraud protection measures.   For your protection, the college will require that all companies in which access to such information is necessary agree to keep all personal information secure and confidential.
