Lionel is a perfect example of a student who has taken advantage of the multiple opportunities offered to students at Missouri Western. He has been involved as a campus leader in multiple organizations, was appointed the Student Governor and has participated in many service projects.
As a member of the fraternity Phi Delta Theta, he has traveled to regional and national conferences to represent the Missouri Western chapter. He even had the opportunity to travel to Boston for the National Association for Campus Activities Convention. As an executive member of the Western Activities Council, he was able to be a part of the team that chooses the nationally known act for the annual WAC concert. Lionel is also involved in the Student Government Association, Student Ambassadors and is a Registration Leader. Lionel was appointed Student Governor by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon in April 2014 and will serve his term through December 2015.
Lionel also had the unique experience to travel to Africa and work in children’s homes in west Africa. He worked in schools and orphanages in both Ghana and Sierra Leone. While he was there, he did everything from help teach class to organize a football program for the kids. The experience shaped his career goals and has directed his focus toward psychology.
Lionel’s dream job would be working in behavioral neuroscience, clinical psychology or cognitive psychology. He is going to start applying to graduate programs his senior year and hopes to get a postgraduate degree and to keep serving others.
