“Jessie was selected to present the results of her research on suicide and prison inmates at the American Psychology-Law Society conference in Atlanta.”

When Jessie Thorup visited Missouri Western as a high school student, she says it wasn’t just one thing that made her decide to enroll. The volleyball player and psychology major from Olathe, Kansas said she liked it all – the facilities, the volleyball coaches and the Department of Psychology.

Once Jessie arrived on campus, her opportunities for internships and research experiences helped her decide her career choice. After graduation, she plans to enroll in graduate school to become a general practice physician’s assistant.

Jessie says her research projects gave her a lot of experience and knowledge in many different areas. She was selected to present the results of her research on suicide and prison inmates at the American Psychology-Law Society conference in Atlanta last year.

“Missouri Western is a good place to be an athlete,” she says. “They help you maintain a balance so you can excel both in classes and on the court.”
