Admissions Requirements

To be admitted to the Human Factors and Usability graduate program at Western, an applicant must complete two applications. One is for admission into the Graduate School. The second is the Department of Psychology Graduate Admissions application. In order to complete these applications you will need to have the following items.

  • Successful completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least a 2.75 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), a 3.0 or better grade point average is preferred.
  • A GRE score of at least 450 (141) quantitative reasoning and at least 400 (146) verbal reasoning.
  • One to three letters of recommendation from persons who know your academic work or your professional work. Three letters are preferred.   • A personal statement and description statement which is entered into the Department of Psychology Graduate Admissions application during the application process.

Preference will be given to students whose undergraduate work was in a human factors related field (psychology, business, anthropology, engineering, computer science, technical communication or graphic design), although any major will be considered. If you already have an MBA degree from an accredited university you will have less coursework (i.e., the Master of Applied Science Core/business coursework is waived).
