the year, make, model, and color of your vehicle; as well as your license plate number.\u00a0 The annual fee for one parking permit is $30.00; additional permits are available for $10.00 each.\u00a0 A free temporary parking pass is available in the event that a student drives a different vehicle for up to one week.\u00a0 Vehicles <strong>must<\/strong> be registered annually.<\/p>\n<p>Parking permits must be properly displayed while in campus lots. Vehicles parked outside of permitted spaces or without displayed permits are subject to ticketing or removal.<\/p>\n<p>Once a parking permit is obtained and placed on a registered vehicle, you may park in any of the parking lots with <strong>general parking<\/strong>.\u00a0 This includes lots B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, M, N, O, and Q.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty\/Staff may apply for <strong>reserved parking spaces<\/strong> in all parking lots except for lots A and L.\u00a0 The fee for reserved parking spaces is $210.00 annually for 24 hour access.\u00a0 Reserved parking spaces are available on a first-come first-served basis and are reserved spots designated for the specific individual.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VISITOR PARKING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visitors are requested to park in designated visitor parking areas in lots A, C, and D.\u00a0 Visitors who park outside of the designated visitor parking areas, in the general parking areas, are requested to first contact the University Police Department for parking permission and information on parking rules and regulations.\u00a0 Visitors parking for more than one day or repetitive parking will require a visitor parking pass which can be obtained from the University Police Department.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SPECIAL EVENT AND LARGE GROUP PARKING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individual departments may obtain visitor parking passes prior to a scheduled event by contacting the University Police Department.\u00a0 Requests should be made at least one week prior to the event.\u00a0 Visitors parking for MWSU athletic events, commencement and other similar one-time events need not register with the University Police Department.\u00a0 All visitors are required to abide by all laws and parking\/traffic regulations.\u00a0 Current faculty\/staff and students are not considered visitors at any time for any reason.\u00a0 Visitor parking is provided specifically for those visiting campus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HANDICAP\/DISABLED PARKING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Designated handicap\/disabled parking spaces are reserved for those with permits issued by the proper authorities. Vehicles parked in these spaces without properly displayed permits are subject to fines and\/or removal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FINES \/ APPEALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A list of fines and further information on the process for appealing a parking fine is available from the University Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Missouri Western State University or its employees will not assume any responsibility for the care and protection of any vehicle or its contents at any time it is operated or parked on the campus.<\/p>\n<p>Any person who willfully or through negligence causes damage to Missouri Western property shall be liable for any damage done to said property.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"nav fusion-mobile-tab-nav\"><ul class=\"nav-tabs\"><li><a class=\"tab-link\" data-toggle=\"tab\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"tab-051cc7c93d6e810de08\" aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"-1\" id=\"mobile-fusion-tab-vehicleregistration\" href=\"#tab-051cc7c93d6e810de08\"><h4 class=\"fusion-tab-heading\">Vehicle Registration<\/h4><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"tab-pane fade fusion-clearfix\" role=\"tabpanel\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-labelledby=\"fusion-tab-vehicleregistration\" id=\"tab-051cc7c93d6e810de08\">\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/policedepartment\/registration\/\"><em>Vehicle Registration<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"nav fusion-mobile-tab-nav\"><ul class=\"nav-tabs\"><li><a class=\"tab-link\" data-toggle=\"tab\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"tab-4a2730d9ceb99fdf575\" aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"-1\" id=\"mobile-fusion-tab-student,staffandfacultytemporaryparking\" href=\"#tab-4a2730d9ceb99fdf575\"><h4 class=\"fusion-tab-heading\">Student, Staff and Faculty Temporary Parking<\/h4><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"tab-pane fade fusion-clearfix\" role=\"tabpanel\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-labelledby=\"fusion-tab-student,staffandfacultytemporaryparking\" id=\"tab-4a2730d9ceb99fdf575\">\n<div class=\"the_content the_content_wrapper\">\n<p>Students, Faculty and Staff, who have a currently registered vehicle (Missouri Western Vehicle Registration) and whose circumstances have forced them to drive a substitute vehicle, are eligible for temporary parking permission through the Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>One day parking permission may be obtained by contacting the Police Department by phone (271-4438) between 8:00 AM and midnight (Monday through Friday) and providing the appropriate information (individual\u2019s name, Missouri Western G#, vehicle make, model, year, color, license number and location of parking.\u00a0 One day parking permission can also be obtained 24 hours per day by completing the parking permission form at (click to follow link):\u00a0 <strong><a title=\"Parking Permission Form\" href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/policedepartment\/parkingpermission\/\">Parking Permission Form<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vehicle parking permission for more than one day, up to seven (7) calendar days, may also be obtained through the Police Department (Blum 201). However, the individual must go to the Police Department, during regular business hours, with the appropriate information (individual\u2019s name, Missouri Western G#, vehicle make, model, year, color, license number, location on campus and required time frame) and obtain a temporary parking permit. The Police Department will issue a temporary parking permit, which must be placed in the person\u2019s vehicle, in a manner prescribed by the Police Department.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"nav fusion-mobile-tab-nav\"><ul class=\"nav-tabs\"><li><a class=\"tab-link\" data-toggle=\"tab\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"tab-7bb7f044a2aef8e2145\" aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"-1\" id=\"mobile-fusion-tab-disabled-accessibleparking\" href=\"#tab-7bb7f044a2aef8e2145\"><h4 class=\"fusion-tab-heading\">Disabled-Accessible Parking<\/h4><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"tab-pane fade fusion-clearfix\" role=\"tabpanel\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-labelledby=\"fusion-tab-disabled-accessibleparking\" id=\"tab-7bb7f044a2aef8e2145\">\n<p>Disabled-accessible parking areas are enforced every day, 24 hours a day per RSMO 310.142 and 310.143 and St. Joseph City Code Division 4; this includes, parking in or blocking access isles or spaces. When disabled-accessible parking is full in a lot, parking, with disabled-accessible permit is allowed in the next available valid parking space. This does not include the President\u2019s parking space, parking along yellow curbs, in driveways, in front of loading docks, blue or yellow striped zones or in any manner that prohibits traffic flow. <em>Temporary Disabled Accessible<\/em> parking accommodations may be made for up to one week by contacting the Police Department.\u00a0 An original physician\u2019s letter is required for this permission.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"nav fusion-mobile-tab-nav\"><ul class=\"nav-tabs\"><li><a class=\"tab-link\" data-toggle=\"tab\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"tab-e7ddf410a74e8cb84f6\" aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"-1\" id=\"mobile-fusion-tab-visitorparking\" href=\"#tab-e7ddf410a74e8cb84f6\"><h4 class=\"fusion-tab-heading\">Visitor Parking<\/h4><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"tab-pane fade fusion-clearfix\" role=\"tabpanel\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-labelledby=\"fusion-tab-visitorparking\" id=\"tab-e7ddf410a74e8cb84f6\">\n<p>Visitors are requested to park in designated visitor parking areas in lots A, C and D. Visitors parked in the designated visitor parking areas need not register their vehicles with the Police Department. Visitors who park outside of lots A, C and D, in the general parking areas, are requested to first contact the Police Department for parking permission and information on parking rules and regulations. Visitor parking for more than one day or repetitive parking will require a visitor-parking pass.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors may obtain a visitor-parking pass for more than one day at no cost, from the Police Department during normal business hours. Individual departments may obtain visitor-parking passes prior to a scheduled event by contacting the Police Department. The request will be received in the Police Department, and the visitor parking passes will be forwarded to the department for distribution prior to the beginning of the event. Requests should be made for the time an event is scheduled, including an estimated number of attendees, to accommodate preparation by the Police Department and visitor registration mailings.\u00a0 Visitors parking for large, one time events (athletic events, commencement, theatrical and musical events) need not register with Police Department.\u00a0 All visitors are required to abide by all laws and parking\/traffic regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Current Faculty, Staff, and Students are not considered Visitors at anytime or for any reason as long as they are currently employed or a currently registered student.\u00a0 Visitor parking is provided specifically for those visiting the campus\u00a0that are not currently employed or enrolled.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"nav fusion-mobile-tab-nav\"><ul class=\"nav-tabs\"><li><a class=\"tab-link\" data-toggle=\"tab\" role=\"tab\" aria-controls=\"tab-4fcc9ab43708f13b1f0\" aria-selected=\"false\" tabindex=\"-1\" id=\"mobile-fusion-tab-regulations\" href=\"#tab-4fcc9ab43708f13b1f0\"><h4 class=\"fusion-tab-heading\">Regulations<\/h4><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"tab-pane fade fusion-clearfix\" role=\"tabpanel\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-labelledby=\"fusion-tab-regulations\" id=\"tab-4fcc9ab43708f13b1f0\">\n<p><strong>PARKING RULES\/REGULATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>All students, faculty, staff, part-time and contract employees must register their vehicle with the University each academic year.<\/li>\n<li>The operation of a motor vehicle shall be restricted to the campus streets and parking lots. Parking is prohibited on any lawn, curb, sidewalk, or any area not designated as a parking space, or in any restricted or unauthorized area.<\/li>\n<li>Motor vehicles operated or parked on the campus must comply with all State Laws, City Ordinances, and the Traffic and Parking Regulations of Missouri Western State University.<\/li>\n<li>The person in whose name the vehicle is registered is responsible for all violations committed with that vehicle. If the operator of a motor vehicle involved in a violation is different than that of the person whose name is on the vehicle registration, both the operator and the person whose name is on the registration may be held responsible for the violation.<\/li>\n<li>All vehicles registered for general parking must display a current decal (permit) on the outside of the rear\/back window, on the lower right (passenger) side corner of the window unless otherwise authorized by the University Police Department at the time of purchase. All vehicles registered for reserved parking must display a current hang tag on the rear-view mirror or the front dash board while parked on campus.<\/li>\n<li>Employees who register their vehicle for an assigned reserved space must park in the designated assigned reserved parking space. Students and employees who register their vehicle for general parking are prohibited from parking in designated reserved spaces.<\/li>\n<li>Designated assigned reserved parking spaces are available in parking lots except for lots A and L.<\/li>\n<li>All reserved parking spaces will be enforced 24 hours a day 7 days a week.<\/li>\n<li>All disabled-accessible parking, no-parking and 30-minute parking spaces are enforced 24 hours a day 7 days a week.<\/li>\n<li>It is a violation to park a motor vehicle in any place where it may create a traffic hazard or where it blocks or impedes pedestrian or vehicular traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Parking is not allowed where prohibited by signs or yellow curbs.<\/li>\n<li>Parking on the campus for the purpose of storing or repairing a vehicle (except emergency repairs) is prohibited. If a vehicle breaks down on campus, thus rendering it inoperable, the person whose name appears on the registration is responsible for contacting the MWSU Police Department and getting the vehicle removed at the operator\u2019s expense.<\/li>\n<li>The speed limit on all streets of the campus is 25 miles per hour, unless otherwise posted. The speed limit in all parking lots and drives is 10 miles per hour.<\/li>\n<li>Operating a motor vehicle in a careless or reckless manner, which could endanger the life, limb, or property of another, is prohibited.<\/li>\n<li>Operating a motor vehicle in the opposite direction of signs indicating ONE-WAY traffic is prohibited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The operator of a motor vehicle shall:\n<ol type=\"a\">\n<li>Yield the right of way to pedestrians at all times. online<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Appeals must be filed within 10 days of the citation.\u00a0 <\/strong>You will be e-mailed with a hearing date, time and location for appearance.<\/p>\n<p>The Traffic Appeals Board is convened several times throughout the fall and spring semesters. The Traffic Appeals Board hears appeals of campus parking and moving citations. The board has two options when determining the outcome of a citation: 1.) The board may decide to dismiss the citation or 2.) The board may decide to uphold the citation. If the board decides to uphold the citation, it will then determine if the fine amount should be \u201cpaid as indicated\u201d on the citation or if the fine amount should be \u201creduced\u201d to some amount determined by the board. VEHICLES ARE REMOVED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE.<\/p>\n<p>If a vehicle is found parked in violation of any State Law, City Ordinance, University Parking Regulation or is parked in such a manner as to create a traffic hazard, such vehicles may be impounded, relocated, or immobilized at the expense of the violator.<\/p>\n<p>The University or any of its authorized personnel shall not be liable or assume any responsibility for any loss or damage suffered because of such impoundment, immobilization or relocation.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of appeal, the tow and\/or immobilization fee <strong>WILL NOT
