PLWP partners with the Saint Joseph School District to create engaging summer learning opportunities for students grades 3-8. Housed the last two years at Bode Middle School, students have gathered to read, write, and share at PLWP Summer Writing Projects. Participants are nominated by their English Language Arts teachers, and must complete a registration form and a letter of interest in order to attend.
Elementary Summer Writing Project
The 2019 Write Out of This World Elementary Summer Writing Project ran for the first four weeks of SJSD’s summer school. We visited the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, the Remington Nature Center, and learned from several guest artists who taught us about storytelling. Want to see our writing? See our anthology here.
Middle School Summer Writing Project
The 2019 Sky’s the Limit Middle School Summer Writing Project, for grades 7 and 8, toured Mt. Mora cemetery, explored the Glore, and learned about the power of words.
