The reading will premiere on YouTube at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and will be available for later viewings as well. Watch at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/griff.vn\/bbr2020\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">griff.vn\/bbr2020<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Missouri Western students and faculty as well as members of the St. Joseph community hold an hour-long reading of books that have been either banned or challenged in U.S. schools and libraries in recent years, including works by Toni Morrison, Walt Whitman, Kurt Vonnegut, Harper Lee, Angie Thomas, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event is sponsored by Missouri Western\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Education<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/communication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of Communication<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MWSU Library<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/plwp\/\">Prairie Lands Writing Project<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For more information, contact Dr. Michael Cadden, professor of English and director of childhood studies, at 816-271-4576.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Permission for reading <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Families, Families, Families<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> by Suzanne and Max Lang as part of this event has been granted by Random House.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Missouri Western State University is a student-centered learning community preparing individuals for lives of excellence through applied learning.
