Dr. Waters\u2019 talk, part of the Mary Boder History Speaker Series, is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Waters is a scholar of Central and Eastern European history, borderlands. She received her master\u2019s and doctorate degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles, and was a Mellon post-doctoral fellow in European Studies at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She is a two-time Fulbright fellow, which gave her the opportunity to research in Hungary (2009) and Slovak Republic (2016). Dr. Waters is a member of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies, and an executive board member of the Hungarian Studies Association and the Slovak Studies Association. She has published articles in Contemporary European History and Hungarian Historical Review. In 2014, the Hungarian Studies Association recognized her with the Mark Pittaway Prize for Best Scholarly Article in Hungarian Studies.<\/p>\n<p>The Mary Boder History Speaker Series is sponsored by the Mary Boder Trust and hosted by Missouri Western\u2019s Department of History and Geography.<\/p>\n<p><em>Missouri Western State University is a comprehensive regional university providing a blend of traditional liberal arts and professional degree programs.
