Lindsey Davis, a senior graphic arts major from California, Missouri, submitted two posters for an international competition and both were selected for publication, including the cover art. Davis\u2019 posters are titled \u201cSave the Trees, Save Humanity\u201d and convey the dire results of deforestation.<\/p>\n
The cover depicts a human fingerprint superimposed on the tree rings of a slice of wood. The second poster shows a series of tree ring slices ending with a fingerprint. Both include a statistic from the World Wildlife Fund that 15 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions are the result of deforestation.<\/p>\n
Davis\u2019 work and other articles in Volume 17, Number 2 of The Goose (\u201cEnvironmental Art and Activism\u201d) can be viewed at scholars.wlu.ca\/thegoose\/<\/a>.
