Missouri Western State University and the YWCA of St. Joseph are co-hosting the \u201cWhat Were You Wearing?\u201d Survivor Art Installation in the Hoff Conference Room, Blum Student Union room 28, April 3-6. An opening reception will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 with remarks and light refreshments until 2:30 p.m. The display will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. April 3, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 4, 5 and 6. It is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
Outfits featured in the installation have been recreated from the stories of student survivors of sexual assault. The clothing has been donated by the YWCA.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat Were You Wearing?\u201d originated at the University of Arkansas in 2013. It was created by Jen Brockman and Dr. Mary Wyandt-Hiebert, who were inspired by Dr. Mary Simmerling\u2019s poem \u201cWhat I Was Wearing\u201d. It has been displayed on multiple campuses across the Midwest since then, gaining widespread attention last year at the University of Kansas.<\/p>\n
