Johnda Boyce will share her experiences serving as an international election observer with the Carter Center in Kenya at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1 in Agenstein Hall, room 224 on the campus of Missouri Western State University. The presentation is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
The Aug. 8, 2017 election marked the third time the Atlanta-based Carter Center had observed an election in Kenya. Boyce served as a short-term observer, arriving in Nairobi for training after doing extensive reading on her own. She then deployed to a rural part of the country with her observer-partner. She will talk about preparations for the trip, her experiences being immersed in a different legal system, and what it was like to observe and document democracy in Kenya.<\/p>\n
Boyce is a staff attorney at Legal Aid of Western Missouri in Kansas City. She holds degrees from Southeast Missouri State University, The Ohio State University and the University of Arizona.<\/p>\n
