The theme of Women\u2019s History Month 2019 is \u201cWhat Is and Is Not Feminist?\u201d Unless otherwise noted, all events will be at 6 p.m. in the Hoff Conference Room, Blum Student Union rooms 218-219.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, March 4, \u201cFeminist or Not?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Melinda Kov\u00e1cs, associate professor of political science, gives the introductory lecture to set up the theme of the month-long event series.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, March 5, \u201cIs Science Feminist?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tri Beta Honor Society and the Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society, under the direction of Dr. Csengele Barta, associate professor of biology, host a discussion of women\u2019s participation in science and its relevance to feminism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, March 6, \u201cWomen\u2019s History Trivia\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Center for Multicultural Education, under the direction of Latoya Muhammad, hosts a fun event that will test participants\u2019 knowledge of women\u2019s history. Sign up in Blum 207.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, March 21, Poetry Open Mic: \u201cWhat is Feminism Anyway?\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Marianne Kunkel, assistant professor of English, takes Women\u2019s History Month off-campus and hosts the event at Mokaska Coffee Company, 617 Felix Street in Downtown St. Joseph, in collaboration with Third Thursdays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, March 25, Women of the Future Guest Speaker: Heather Evans<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Women of the Future (WTF) and Student Government Association (SGA) bring Dr. Heather Evans to campus to discuss her new research about politics and exotic dancers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, March 26, Feminista Jones, 7 p.m., Kemper Recital Hall, Spratt 101<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CME brings Feminista Jones, a Philadelphia-based social worker, feminist writer, public speaker and community activist to present insights into intersectional feminism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, March 27, \u201cSocialist Feminism: A Historical Perspective\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Emily Gioielli, assistant professor of history, lectures on a key historical element of feminism.<\/p>\n<p><em>Missouri Western State University is a comprehensive regional university providing a blend of traditional liberal arts and professional degree programs.
