More than 900 high school students participated in Missouri Western State University\u2019s third annual Visual Arts Day on Oct. 9. The day\u2019s events included a juried art exhibition, art competitions and events, and studio workshops in clay, graphics, animation, printmaking, painting, photography, drawing and sculpture.<\/p>\n

The following prizes were awarded in the art exhibition:<\/p>\n

DEAN\u2019S AWARD<\/p>\n

Allison Manley, Marysville High School, grade 11, for a charcoal drawing titled \u201cChange.\u201d<\/p>\n

ART DEPARTMENT CHAIR AWARD<\/p>\n

Natasha Hughes, North Andrew R VI, grade 11, for an untitled wood wall-hanging<\/p>\n

DEPARTMENT OF ART AWARD<\/p>\n

Isabella Libel, Riverside High School, grade 11, for a ceramic piece titled \u201cDelicate Mess\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In addition, student and teachers competed in a \u201c3-Throw\u201d competition. Participants had three minutes to throw the tallest and widest shape possible from three pounds of clay.<\/p>\n

The student 3-Throw competition had a three-way tie for first place:<\/p>\n
