Dr. Louis Imperiale will present a selection of\u00a0best-loved French songs\u00a0accompanying\u00a0himself on the accordion\u00a0at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in the Little Theatre of the Hearnes Learning Center at Missouri Western State University.<\/p>\n
Audience members will be able to sing along to many of France\u2019s \u201cbien-aim\u00e9es\u201d selections such as \u201cAux Champs-Elys\u00e9es,\u201d \u201cMilord,\u201d \u201cFrou-Frou\u201d and \u201cC\u2019est si bon.\u201d The program is designed for all ages, for music lovers and karaoke enthusiasts or for anyone who loves music and sing-alongs. This program is a wonderful opportunity for teachers of French and students learning French.<\/p>\n
Dr. Imperiale has a musical background and is fluent in four languages,\u00a0French, Italian, Spanish and English.\u00a0He\u00a0spent his early childhood in Italy and France and earned his high school Baccalaur\u00e9at in France. He then went on to complete advanced studies of Italian. Dr. Imperiale\u00a0later lived in Puerto Rico where he studied Spanish.\u00a0In 1990 he completed his Ph.D in\u00a0Spanish Literature at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He is currently professor of\u00a0Spanish at the University of Missouri- Kansas City<\/p>\n
Dr. Imperiale has always retained his love\u00a0for French folk and popular music.\u00a0 In Puerto Rico he\u00a0served for many years as music director at the Heidelberg Haus Restaurant and as Ma\u00eetre Organiste, Stella Maris Parish.\u00a0He was also a musical\u00a0 entertainer on the French cruise ships, the MS \u201cMermoz\u201d and the MS \u201cRenaissance.\u201d<\/p>\n
