Oct. 11, 2024\u2013Actor Sharon Blynn will deliver an interactive career guidance presentation to Missouri Western State University cinematic arts, graphic design, and digital animation students on Tuesday, Oct. 22, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Kemper Recital Hall, Leah Spratt Hall, Room 101.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of Missouri Western\u2019s applied learning model, this presentation is designed to help students find their voice and develop their career path,\u201d said Dr. David Sutera, assistant professor of cinema at Missouri Western.<\/span><\/p>\n

Blynn is a cancer survivor, an \u201cactorvist,\u201d writer and founder of \u201cBald Is Beautiful,\u201d an ovarian cancer awareness organization dedicated to empowering women and girls to define their beauty and wholeness on their own terms. She has appeared on TV and in films, and performed on stages in New York and Los Angeles, as well as sharing her Bald Is Beautiful message all over the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Most recently, Blynn played the role of Skrull alien Soren (wife to Ben Mendelsohn\u2019s Talos) in \u201cCaptain Marvel\u201d and \u201cSpider-Man: Far from Home\u201d and Red Wizard Dimitra Flass in \u201cDungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.\u201d<\/p>\n

She has also appeared on TV\u2019s \u201cThis Is Us\u201d (NBC), \u201cThe Detour\u201d (TBS), \u201cBody of Proof\u201d (ABC), \u201cShameless\u201d (Showtime), and \u201cLie to Me\u201d (Fox), and she hosted the PBS documentary, \u201cThe Whisper: The Silent Crisis of Ovarian Cancer\u201d, and the Revlon Pink Pony Foundation\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Talk About Cancer\u201d podcast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Blynn\u2019s recent honors include the BraveHeart Women\u2019s Courage Award and the Lilly Tartikoff\/EIF Hope Award, and she was named a Revlon Role Model and Lifetime TV \u201cRemarkable Woman.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
