\"officialApril 20, 2022–Missouri Western State University will host its inaugural Applied Learning Showcase Friday, April 22. The all-day event will feature art exhibits and performances, research presentations and more. All events are open to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMissouri Western has a statewide mission of applied learning, and we want the campus, our alumni and the community to understand the ways we live out that mission,\u201d said Dr. Mike Ducey, professor of chemistry and director of the Griffon Office of Applied Learning. \u201cThe Applied Learning Showcase will feature many of the ways that our students take learning outside of the classroom.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The showcase schedule includes:<\/span><\/p>\n

Senior Art Exhibition, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Potter Hall Gallery<\/b><\/p>\n

The exhibition features creative projects by senior art students and will be on display in the Potter Hall Gallery through May 8.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From Production to Promotion: Media, Film and Design, 10 a.m. to noon, Enright Community Rooms, Spratt 214-216<\/b><\/p>\n

Griffon Media and communications students will present their year\u2019s work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Virtual Applied Learning University Event (VALUE), 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., link available at <\/b>missouriwestern.edu\/appliedlearning\/showcase\/<\/b><\/a>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Students who have participated in virtual applied learning events will discuss their projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Multidisciplinary Research Day, noon to 1:30 p.m., Fulkerson Center<\/b><\/p>\n

A decades-old tradition at Missouri Western, Multidisciplinary Research Day features poster presentations of research projects in academic disciplines across campus. Students will be on hand to explain their research and answer questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oral Presentations of Applied Learning, 1 to 2:20 p.m., Fulkerson Center<\/b><\/p>\n

Students will orally present their research projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vocal Music Performances, 2 to 3 p.m., Kemper Recital Hall, Spratt 101<\/b><\/p>\n

Vocal music students will perform in solos and ensembles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jazz in the Union, 3 to 4 p.m., Blum Union Lobby<\/b><\/p>\n

Students in the Missouri Western Jazz Program will perform.<\/span><\/p>\n

Program Open Houses, 4 to 5:30 p.m., various locations<\/b><\/p>\n

Chemistry (Remington\/Agenstein Hall), Engineering Technology (Wilson Hall), Nursing (Murphy Hall) and the School of Fine Arts (Potter Hall) will show visitors their applied learning facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

7th annual Griffon Film Festival, 6 to 9 p.m., Missouri Theatre, 715 Edmond Street<\/b><\/p>\n

The annual showcase for senior film students will be held in Downtown St. Joseph. Admission is free for Missouri Western students with ID; for others, it is $5 at the door. The Griffon Film Festival is sponsored in part by the School of Fine Arts and the Performing Arts Association.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
