{"id":10262,"date":"2022-03-03T16:52:02","date_gmt":"2022-03-03T22:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/news\/?p=10262"},"modified":"2022-03-03T16:52:02","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T22:52:02","slug":"high-school-writing-day-march-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/news\/2022\/03\/03\/high-school-writing-day-march-4\/","title":{"rendered":"High School Writing Day March 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/plwp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2019\/12\/HS-Writing-Day-229-1536x1024.jpg\" alt=\"students write around table\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1024\" \/>March 3, 2022&#8211;More than 150 high school students will be on the campus of Missouri Western State University on Friday, March 4 for High School Writing Day, co-hosted by the Prairie Lands Writing Project and the Department of Communication.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students will learn new writing techniques and draw inspiration from workshops conducted by Missouri Western faculty and students, and have an opportunity to share their own work in an Open Mic event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The schedule is as follows:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Opening session, 9 a.m., Fulkerson Center<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Workshops, Round 1, 9:30-10:20 a.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Workshops, Round 2, 10:30-11:20 a.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lunch, 11:30-12:10<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Open Mic, 12:20 p.m., Kemper Recital Hall, Spratt 101<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Closing Performance by Poet t.l. sanders, 1:30 p.m., Kemper Recital Hall, Spratt 101<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Poet t.l. sanders is a writer and performer who recently won the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts 2021 Artful Poetry Contest and is a 2021 Missouri Arts Council Featured Artist.
