May 13, 2022–The Missouri Western State University Board of Governors adopted a balanced budget of just under $80 million for the 2022-2023 fiscal year, which starts July 1. The total budget is virtually unchanged from the budget adopted for the current fiscal year.

“Missouri Western puts people first,” said Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy, president. “And our budget reflects that.”

For the first time in four years, the budget includes a pay raise for Missouri Western employees. The raises will take effect in July and are part of a four-year compensation plan designed to bring wages in line with the job market. Details will be announced soon to employees.

The budget includes an increase of 4% in tuition and mandatory fees, in line with a recommendation from the state. Tuition will rise from $230 to $240 per credit hour for in-state undergraduate students, with tuition and fees totaling a little more than $8,000 per year for a full-time student taking 30 credit hours. Housing fees will increase 4.5% to 6%, and food service fees will increase an average of 6%.

The budget reflects a 5.4% increase in Missouri Western’s core budget approved by the Missouri General Assembly and awaiting signature from Gov. Parson.
