Wicks said he was not looking to leave Missouri Western, but took the opportunity to return to his home state.<\/p>\n<p>Days later, it was announced that Missouri Western\u2019s current assistant coach Will Martin will serve as the new head coach. He was hired by Wicks and has been at the University for two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Before coming to Missouri Western, Martin served as assistant men\u2019s basketball coach and director of athletic admissions at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee. Prior to that, Martin was the director of basketball operations at the University of San Francisco under head coach Rex Walters.<\/p>\n<p>Martin received his bachelor\u2019s from the University of Kentucky in 2012 and obtained his master\u2019s in education from the University of Tulsa in 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In late March, men\u2019s basketball head coach for two seasons, Sundance Wicks, announced his resignation when he was offered a position as assistant coach at the University of Wyoming.
