Even before he retired from Hillyard as traffic manager after 27 years of service, he was a regular fixture at St. Joseph\u2019s Fairview Golf Course. He was still a familiar face at Fairview when he passed away at the age of 93 in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Because of his love of the sport, it should come as no surprise to his friends that the MWSU Foundation<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2050\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/133\/2018\/05\/Jamesons.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2050\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/133\/2018\/05\/Jamesons-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2050\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/133\/2018\/05\/Jamesons-200x267.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/133\/2018\/05\/Jamesons-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/133\/2018\/05\/Jamesons-400x533.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/133\/2018\/05\/Jamesons.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2050\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kenneth and Marjorie Jameson<\/p><\/div>\n<p>received approximately $340,000 as a gift from his and his wife\u2019s estate that will benefit the University golf team.<\/p>\n<p>The Kenneth R. Jameson and Marjorie C. Jameson Scholarship Fund will award scholarships for students with financial need, with first consideration given to members of Missouri Western\u2019s golf team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey wanted to do something to give back to the community and help kids in college,\u201d said Clark Tally, longtime friend of the Jamesons.<\/p>\n<p>Marjorie and Kenneth, both St. Joseph natives, met Clark and his family when they became neighbors in the early 1990s. Since Kenneth and his wife had no children and the Tallys had no extended family in St. Joseph, Clark and his wife, Susan, and their two daughters, \u201cadopted\u201d the Jamesons as family, celebrating holidays with them and spending a lot of time together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought of him as a father and he thought of me as a son,\u201d Clark said.<\/p>\n<p>The Jamesons\u2019 connection to Missouri Western came about through their friends Mike and Cathy Habermehl, who coached golf teams at Missouri Western for several years. Kenneth met Mike in 1985, when Mike became the golf pro at Fairview, and they remained friends until Kenneth passed away. When Kenneth was no longer able to golf, he still visited Fairview every morning Monday through Friday to play cards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will help the golf team a lot,\u201d Mike said. \u201cI am so pleased.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both Mike and Clark say the Jamesons were two of the kindest people you could ever know. \u201cHonest,\u201d \u201cfriendly\u201d and \u201csweet\u201d were descriptors they used.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one would not consider him a friend,\u201d Mike said of Kenneth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf all the good things you can say about somebody, you could say it about them,\u201d Clark said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s one thing that everyone who knew Kenneth Jameson could say about him with certainty \u2013 the man loved golf.
