{"id":1747,"date":"2017-05-12T18:59:33","date_gmt":"2017-05-12T18:59:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/?p=1747"},"modified":"2019-06-12T10:23:56","modified_gmt":"2019-06-12T15:23:56","slug":"campus-plans-for-total-eclipse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/2017\/05\/12\/campus-plans-for-total-eclipse\/","title":{"rendered":"Campus Plans for Total Eclipse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, a total eclipse will begin at 1:06:27 p.m. and will last for approximately two minutes and 38 seconds in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Missouri Western personnel are planning events for astronomy buffs the day before.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Aug. 20, Missouri Western will host eclipse experts on campus: Michael Bakich, senior editor of Astronomy Magazine; Bryan Busby, chief meteorologist at KMBC-TV in Kansas City; Mike Reynolds, professor of astronomy at Florida State College at Jacksonville; and Derrick Pitts, chief astronomer at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. And, the Bushman Planetarium will show eclipse-themed shows.
