The master’s degree program in Information Technology Management is designed to provide a balance between management skills and technical expertise. You will learn to manage people and projects as well as gain a broader knowledge base of important IT issues including networking, software integration and security.

How is MAS different from a traditional master’s degree?
Unlike the traditional master’s program, Western’s MAS degree provides a solid core of courses in the chosen option, combined with courses in business, communication, marketing, economics, statistics, and management. The MAS degree is a Professional Master’s Degree because it integrates graduate level business knowledge with technical competency. Applied learning and applied research are important aspects of the degree, and students will work in teams and apply their skills to real problems and issues.
Why is integration important?
Information processing is the core of business decision making. Management of this valuable resource is extremely important for the survival of any business. Having individuals on staff who have both technical skills and business skills is vital.
Who should enroll in our ITM option?
This option is for someone currently in the IT field, or someone who has an undergraduate degree in the area and is looking to assume a management role in the IT field. The ITM option provides students with a background in corporate information security, network administration and integration of IT resources. In addition, program graduates will develop knowledge of organizational behavior, marketing strategy, and managerial economics. Graduates will gain skills in communication, problem solving, decision making, leadership and management; and experience working in a team environment with emerging technologies.
