Camile Bañez wasn’t sure she wanted to get involved in campus life when she first came to Missouri Western. But it didn’t take her long to jump in and get totally involved. In fact, Camile, a sophomore health and exercise science major, has not only joined several student organizations, but has taken on leadership roles in them.

“There are so many opportunities out there, students just need to reach out and grab the opportunities,” she says.

Two of her favorite extra-curricular activities are giving tours to prospective students and being a group leader at the orientation for new students.

She said she loves helping high school students learn about college life when they visit campus. And when they come for orientation three days before school starts, Camile, who is from Unionville, Missouri, is there to give them all the information they need to get adjusted and have a great college experience. “It can be scary,” she says. “I hope I help them make friends and make connections on campus.”

Camile loves being immersed in campus life. “A lot of people don’t know all the amazing things Missouri Western offers. This University has really shaped the person I want to become.”
