ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT/ACADEMIC- ECONOMICS, POLITICAL SCIENCE, AND SOCIOLOGY– to assist in the daily operational management of the academic department, including budgeting, customer service, and administrative support duties primarily working with students and faculty. The position also requires a high level of integrity necessary to handle confidential information. REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED; one year of specialized training in administrative support or a related field; three years of administrative support or related office experience; proven office skills /computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. TRANSCRIPT EVALUATION COORDINATOR- Responsible for transcript evaluations for domestic and international students; discusses with students transfer equivalencies; processes and evaluates admissions documents; maintains contact with academic departments concerning equivalencies; coordinates with Financial Aid for consortium agreements. This position will also maintain official articulation agreements; primary contact with academic departments regarding transfer guidelines; assists current and prospective transfer students; helps with transfer recruitment efforts and processing consortium agreements. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, plus excellent verbal and written communication skills; detailed computer entry proficiency; strong problem solving/organization/multitasking/skills; plus the ability to work independently and learn quickly. GRADUATE ASSISTANT- STRENGTH & CONDITIONING- Missouri Western State University, an NCAA Division II Institution located in St. Joseph, MO, is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Strength & Conditioning. The position will assist the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in all areas relating to the operation of the strength & conditioning program for the 10 NCAA Division II sports MWSU sponsors. Primary responsibilities include: collaborating with coaching staff, teaching proper training technique both on the field/court and in the weight room to improve athletic performance, assist in overall supervision of training facilities, assist and instruct strength & conditioning programs for teams, and other duties as assigned by the head coach. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree and employment is contingent on acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission). Candidate should be well organized, possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work independently of the head coach when necessary. PREFERRED: Previous experience as a coach and/or player is recommended. This position begins in August and concludes in May and can be extended for a second year based on academic and administrative performance evaluation. GRADUATE ASSISTANT- VOLLEYBALL COACH– Missouri Western State University, an NCAA Division II institution located in St. Joseph, MO, is seeking a Graduate Assistant Volleyball Coach. This position will assist the head coach in all areas relating to the operation of the volleyball program. Primary responsibilities include: training and development of a specific position group with direction from head coach, oversight and coordination of fundraising volleyball tournaments, filming and uploading of matches using Game Tape Exchange, and assisting with summer camps. Secondary duties may include: recruiting and associated travel, academic mentoring of student-athletes, providing input during practice planning, developing scouting reports, statistical analysis and record keeping, and other duties assigned by the head coach. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree, and employment is contingent on acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission). PREFERRED: Previous experience as a volleyball coach and/or player is recommended. The position will assist the softball coaching staff in all areas relating to the operation of the softball program. Primary responsibilities include: training and development of student-athletes with direction from head coach, providing input during practice planning, statistical analysis, record keeping and other duties assigned by the head coach. Opportunities that may be extended based on performance include, but are not limited to; recruiting and position assignment. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree, and employment is contingent on acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission). PREFERRED: Previous experience as a coach and/or player is recommended with preference given to those capable of throwing batting practice or catching bullpens. This position begins in August and concludes in May and can be extended for a second year based on academic and administrative performance evaluation. GRADUATE ASSISTANT- MEDIA RELATIONS– Missouri Western State University, an NCAA Division II institution located in St. Joseph, MO, is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Media Relations. This position will assist the Athletic Media Relations with coverage of MWSU’s 10 NCAA Division II sports. Duties will include assistance with Stat Crew scoring software, website updates, publication design, and some marketing, and event management. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree, and employment is contingent on acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission). Interested applicants should possess experience working with Stat Crew software; good writing and editing skills; knowledge of desktop publishing, preferably InDesign, as well as Photoshop. PREFERRED: Previous experience working in a sports information office. GRADUATE ASSISTANT- INTERNAL OPERATIONS– Missouri Western State University, an NCAA Division II institution located in St. Joseph, MO, is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Internal Operations. This position will assist the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and the Academic Services Director with compliance, academics and student-athlete development responsibilities for the 10 NCAA Division II sports MWSU sponsors. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: working with the admissions office, financial aid office and registrar’s office to ensure compliance with institutional, NCAA and conference regulations; monitoring recruiting and playing/practice seasons; assisting with the NCAA initial-eligibility process, the completion and submission of required NCAA and conference reports, waivers, and appeals, the monitoring of continuing eligibility requirements, the academic mentoring program, and with annual community engagement activities. Based on skills of applicant and needs of the Department of Athletics, other duties may be assigned. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Health, Sport Management or closely related field; acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (2.75 GPA required for admission); interest in and willingness to work with student-athletes, coaches, athletic administrators; ability to effectively communicate through oral, written and electronic forms; and must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends. PREFERRED: Previous experience in an NCAA compliance office or academic support office; and knowledge of NCAA Division II legislation. This position begins in August and concludes in May and can be extended for a second year based on academic and administrative performance evaluation.
