DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI RELATIONS– provides strategic leadership and management in the organization of the University’s Alumni program. The Director plans and implements programs, events and projects that strategically engages alumni and serves as a liaison between the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Alumni Association and the academic and administrative leadership of the University. Responsibilities include directing all events, meetings, and correspondence promoting the University to alumni, donors and the community.  The Director also coordinates and maintains alumni committees, chapters and/or clubs. VICE PROVOST- Missouri Western State University seeks a resourceful, energetic and visionary administrative leader to serve as Vice Provost. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice Provost will assist the academic affairs division and the university in a variety of areas crucial to the University’s focus upon student success. Areas of responsibility include applied learning, curricular matters, strategic partnerships, professional development initiatives, and retention strategies. The Vice Provost also serves on a variety of standing committees and represents the Provost as needed.

The successful candidate for this position must possess a terminal degree, have university teaching experience and a minimum of five years of experience in higher education leadership positions.

ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT FOR UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY/CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER- Missouri Western State University seeks a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative professional with a successful track record to serve as the Assistant Vice President for University Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO). Missouri Western is a comprehensive, state-supported institution serving more than 5,000 students on a beautiful 723-acre campus about 35 minutes north of Kansas City International Airport. It is an active partner in the educational, economic, cultural, and social development of the people and region it serves. A distinct focus on applied learning and applied research is a hallmark of the innovative teaching and learning environment.

The CIO will report directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administration. The successful candidate is will assume primary responsibility for creating and implementing comprehensive information technology (IT) strategies that support the mission, strategic plan, core educational and administrative objectives of Missouri Western. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior IT executive who has the experience, demonstrated commitment to students, and energy to join the new senior leadership team at Missouri Western to create a strategic direction for IT services.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced IT leader with strong strategic and leadership abilities. Ideally, s/he can anticipate the emergence of new technologies that will benefit a comprehensive regional university. The new CIO will be grounded in fundamental principles, but will also be capable of recognizing and embracing change. Ideally, the CIO will exude creativity and explore dynamic and diverse technologies to meet the needs of students, staff, faculty, and the University. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the CIO will prioritize technology initiatives, identify risks, evaluate trends, and make IT recommendations.

The new CIO will also have the opportunity to:

  • Develop a strategic IT direction and plan consistent with Missouri Western’s strategic plan and capital plan in collaboration with the senior leadership team and key stakeholders;
  • Provide strong leadership and work together with the IT team;
  • Partner with departments to streamline processes and find technology solutions;
  • Appropriately support administrative, academic, and research functions through network administration, security, and related areas;
  • Maintain systems that secure data records associated with student and personnel records, financial records, and research data;
  • Create effective quality assurance processes, testing strategies, departmental metrics, and disaster preparedness plans.
  • Identify the appropriate balance of campus-based resources and services versus brokered resources and services delivered by vendor and cloud-based providers;
  • Develop and manage the IT budget;
  • Build strong working relationships among IT and faculty, staff, management, vendors and other organizations by facilitating communication and resolving conflicts; and
  • Use IT to improve student recruitment and retention.

The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, or other related discipline with significant experience is required; master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Successful record of visionary leadership, innovation, and excellence in IT in a complex environment;
  • Broad understanding of and/or experience with IT within a university system;
  • Understanding of and experience maintaining an Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP), such as Ellucian Banner;
  • Senior IT leadership experience at an institution of higher education, preferably as a CIO;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, well-organized, solution-oriented, and self-directed;
  • Ability to adjust to, learn, and implement new hardware/software technologies;
  • Experience supervising staff and ability to build a team, manage, and mentor staff while working effectively with the president, provost, vice presidents, deans, faculty, university staff, and students;
  • Unwavering commitment to excellent customer service and expeditiously assisting students, faculty, and staff in a friendly manner;
  • Ability to effectively manage finances and other resources;
  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging information technologies, hardware, software, data security issues, and use of social media;
  • Desire to facilitate collaboration and partnerships across the University and with external constituencies; and

ATHLETICS EQUIPMENT MANAGER- Missouri Western State University is seeking an organized individual to coordinate the equipment needs for its 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams competing in NCAA Division II as a member of the MIAA. The Athletics Equipment Manager assists administrative staff and coaches in equipment needs and care, works collaboratively with sport staffs on equipment and uniform purchasing. This position will require evening and weekend hours and will also require travel. Duties include collaborating with coaches to select/order uniforms, equipment and gear, and making recommendations to staff and coaches on inventory quality/quantity, safety, and reliability of equipment; responsible for the care, organization and inventory of all equipment storage spaces and all laundry facilities; attending all football practices and games (home and away) to oversee any/all equipment needs; managing student employees/graduate assistants for area; responsible for complete and accurate accounting and security of equipment, uniforms, and apparel of all team sports; and determining team purchasing requirement based on knowledge of current inventory, industry standard and any/all NCAA guidelines. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in health, physical education, recreation, sport management or related field; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job; up to two years’ experience working with athletic equipment; preferred experience in collegiate athletics and laundry operations. PREFERRED: Supervisory experience; certification in American Equipment Managers Association (AEMA), knowledge of NCAA and MIAA rules and regulations (associated with equipment/uniforms), and hazardous materials (chemicals, blood and other body fluids, etc.). NURSING FACULTY-(tenure-track) – The School of Nursing and Health Professions is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor with joint responsibility in the BSN and MSN programs with teaching assignments beginning August 2019. Responsibilities include classroom teaching of statistics and evidence based practice, as well as supervision of nursing students in internships, or clinical courses. Additional responsibilities include scholarship and professional development related to the teaching and practice of nursing; and providing school/university support. REQUIRED: Doctorate (ABD acceptable) in Nursing or related field; licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Missouri (or ability to obtain this license). PREFER: Experience in conducting nursing research and date analysis; previous experience in teaching at the baccalaureate or graduate level; and background in instructional technology are preferred. ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY- ADJUNCT PROFESSOR- The Department of Engineering Technology at Missouri Western is seeking multiple applications for adjunct faculty positions for Fall 2019. The faculty will teach undergraduate courses in Construction Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology, which include introduction to microcomputers, analog communication systems, electrical circuits, mechanical systems, computer-aided drafting, construction management, construction materials, statics, etc. These are part-time, non-tenure track positions with a high possibility of reappointment. Adjunct faculty normally teach one to two courses per semester. ECONOMICS- ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – (tenure-track) – The Department of Economics, Political Science, and Sociology at Missouri Western State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Economics at the Assistant Professor rank beginning January 2020.
