UNIVERSITY POLICE OFFICER– University Police Department, shift work; performs various law enforcement functions as well as safety and security work for the campus, enforcing federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and ordinances as well as campus rules, regulations, and policies. This position requires a person who is organized, able to multi-task, possesses strong oral/written communication skills, set priorities, and the ability to interact with others in a friendly and professional manner. Missouri Western State University seeks a dynamic professional with a successful track record to serve as the Vice President for University Advancement/Executive Director of the MWSU Foundation (VP). Missouri Western is a comprehensive, state-supported institution serving more than 5,000 students on a beautiful 744-acre campus about 35 minutes north of Kansas City International Airport. It is an active partner in the educational, economic, cultural, and social development of the people and region it serves. A distinct focus on applied learning and applied research is a hallmark of the innovative teaching and learning environment.

The VP is responsible for all advancement programs, including major gifts, corporate and foundation gifts, planned giving, alumni relations, special events, and public relations and marketing. The successful candidate will lead and develop an effective advancement team, setting goals, and inspiring them to meet and exceed expectations. The VP will also serve as the primary liaison of the University with the Missouri Western State University Foundation and the Missouri Western State University Alumni Association.

As the University’s chief development officer, the VP will report to the President and serve as a member of the Cabinet. The successful candidate will constantly work with senior leadership, foundation leadership, academic leaders, faculty, staff, students, alumni association and friends to serve Missouri Western’s mission and priorities. The VP will need to develop effective relationships with private businesses, public agencies, and community leaders. The VP is expected to have an unwavering commitment to assisting students while providing the vision and leadership necessary to identify and cultivate relationships that help achieve financial stability and advance student success. The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is a minimum qualification (advanced degree preferred)
  • Creativity, strategic mindset, and outgoing
  • Integrity in all professional and personal relationships
  • Successful senior-level fundraising experience (or equivalent), including capital campaign experience and a comprehensive development programs — preferably in a university setting
  • Executive leadership ability in planning and implementing a comprehensive, integrated institutional advancement program (or equivalent)
  • Successful public relations, marketing and/or alumni relations background
  • Commitment to working collegially as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills

DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI RELATIONS– provides strategic leadership and management in the organization of the University’s Alumni program. The Director plans and implements programs, events and projects that strategically engages alumni and serves as a liaison between the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Alumni Association and the academic and administrative leadership of the University. Responsibilities include directing all events, meetings, and correspondence promoting the University to alumni, donors and the community.  The Director also coordinates and maintains alumni committees, chapters and/or clubs. ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS AND DEAN OF STUDENTS – Missouri Western State University seeks an Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. The Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students (AVP/DOS) will be responsible for supporting the Vice President’s leadership in planning, program development and administration. The AVP will provide leadership and coordination of a range of co-curricular services and programs to support students’ success and meet the educational, wellness, and personal development needs of students and the university community. This position will provide direct leadership and oversight to the following units/functions: Counseling, Accessibility Resource Center (Disability Student Services), Recreation and Health Services, International Student Services, and Student Conduct. The Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Position qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, student personnel, counseling or related field; Ph.D./Ed.D., or terminal professional degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience providing response and assistance to students in crises.
  • Significant higher education student affairs experience.
  • Five years of progressively responsible supervisory and managerial administrative experience in higher education.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills.
  • Conducive to working effectively with diverse populations.

NURSING FACULTY-(tenure-track) – The School of Nursing and Health Professions is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor with joint responsibility in the BSN and MSN programs with teaching assignments beginning August 2019. Responsibilities include classroom teaching of statistics and evidence based practice, as well as supervision of nursing students in internships, or clinical courses. Additional responsibilities include scholarship and professional development related to the teaching and practice of nursing; and providing school/university support. REQUIRED: Doctorate (ABD acceptable) in Nursing or related field; licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Missouri (or ability to obtain this license). PREFER: Experience in conducting nursing research and date analysis; previous experience in teaching at the baccalaureate or graduate level; and background in instructional technology are preferred. ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY, ADJUNCT PROFESSOR- The Department of Engineering Technology is seeking multiple applications for adjunct faculty positions for Fall 2019. The faculty will teach undergraduate courses in Construction Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology, which include surveying, construction management, construction materials, statics, computer-aided drafting, etc. These are non-tenure track positions with a high possibility of reappointment. Adjunct faculty normally teach one to two courses per semester. HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT FACULTY/PROGRAM COORDINATOR- The School of Nursing and Health Professions/HIM Program is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member with expertise in health information management/health informatics and electronic health record systems to teach in a Health Information Management baccalaureate program beginning August 19’. This full-time position will also take the role of Health Information Management Program Coordinator. This is not a remote position. Responsibilities include classroom and online teaching, development and evaluation of curriculum, program assessment, use of computer simulation, development/supervision of professional practice experience sites, advising students, scholarship and professional development related to the teaching and practice of health informatics/information management; providing departmental/university support. Candidate will be responsible for maintaining, evaluating and assessing the program based on the CAHIIM accreditation requirements. Candidate will also be responsible for all university program assessment and reporting requirements. REQUIRED: Master’s degree in related field, RHIA certification, combination of education and experience in health informatics or health information management. Collegiate teaching experience. PREFERRED: Doctorate in related field, active membership in the American Health Information Management Association, and experience in online instruction. ECONOMICS- ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – (tenure-track) – The Department of Economics, Political Science, and Sociology at Missouri Western State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Economics at the Assistant Professor rank beginning January 2020. The successful candidate should possess a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and preferably a demonstrated record of teaching excellence.
