VICE PROVOST- Missouri Western State University seeks a resourceful, energetic and visionary administrative leader to serve as Vice Provost. ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT FOR UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY/CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER- Missouri Western State University seeks a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative professional with a successful track record to serve as the Assistant Vice President for University Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO). Missouri Western is a comprehensive, state-supported institution serving more than 5,000 students on a beautiful 723-acre campus about 35 minutes north of Kansas City International Airport. It is an active partner in the educational, economic, cultural, and social development of the people and region it serves. The CIO will report directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administration. The successful candidate is will assume primary responsibility for creating and implementing comprehensive information technology (IT) strategies that support the mission, strategic plan, core educational and administrative objectives of Missouri Western. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior IT executive who has the experience, demonstrated commitment to students, and energy to join the new senior leadership team at Missouri Western to create a strategic direction for IT services.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced IT leader with strong strategic and leadership abilities. Ideally, s/he can anticipate the emergence of new technologies that will benefit a comprehensive regional university. The new CIO will be grounded in fundamental principles, but will also be capable of recognizing and embracing change. Ideally, the CIO will exude creativity and explore dynamic and diverse technologies to meet the needs of students, staff, faculty, and the University. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the CIO will prioritize technology initiatives, identify risks, evaluate trends, and make IT recommendations.

The new CIO will also have the opportunity to:

  • Develop a strategic IT direction and plan consistent with Missouri Western’s strategic plan and capital plan in collaboration with the senior leadership team and key stakeholders;
  • Provide strong leadership and work together with the IT team;
  • Partner with departments to streamline processes and find technology solutions;
  • Appropriately support administrative, academic, and research functions through network administration, security, and related areas;
  • Maintain systems that secure data records associated with student and personnel records, financial records, and research data;
  • Create effective quality assurance processes, testing strategies, departmental metrics, and disaster preparedness plans.
  • Identify the appropriate balance of campus-based resources and services versus brokered resources and services delivered by vendor and cloud-based providers;
  • Develop and manage the IT budget;
  • Build strong working relationships among IT and faculty, staff, management, vendors and other organizations by facilitating communication and resolving conflicts; and
  • Use IT to improve student recruitment and retention.

The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, or other related discipline with significant experience is required; master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Successful record of visionary leadership, innovation, and excellence in IT in a complex environment;
  • Broad understanding of and/or experience with IT within a university system;
  • Understanding of and experience maintaining an Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP), such as Ellucian Banner;
  • Senior IT leadership experience at an institution of higher education, preferably as a CIO;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, well-organized, solution-oriented, and self-directed;
  • Ability to adjust to, learn, and implement new hardware/software technologies;
  • Experience supervising staff and ability to build a team, manage, and mentor staff while working effectively with the president, provost, vice presidents, deans, faculty, university staff, and students;
  • Unwavering commitment to excellent customer service and expeditiously assisting students, faculty, and staff in a friendly manner;
  • Ability to effectively manage finances and other resources;

DIRECTOR OF ESPORTS PROGRAM/HEAD COACH– responsible for creating varsity esports team and club programs, overseeing daily operations of the esports program, supervising student coaches and players, maintaining daily operations of the Missouri Western esports facilities, assisting in the recruiting of esports student athletes, and raising funds to support scholarships and program expenses. The Director of esports Program/Head Coach will also work with others in the university community to integrate the esports experience into our academic experience and entrepreneurial culture. Responsibilities include helping develop team and individual skills to prepare individual athletes and the team for success, planning and managing fundraising and sponsorship initiatives for the esports program that align with the University’s overall fundraising strategy, overseeing marketing and promotional activities, maintaining and monitoring all esports equipment and facilities, performing various administrative duties including making travel arrangements, preparing and managing the departmental budget and purchasing necessary supplies and equipment, and monitoring and promoting the health and safety of athletes and staff. This position will be subjected to travel, as well as working some nights and weekends. ADMISSIONS COUNSELORS- Missouri Western State University is seeking to hire multiple Admissions Counselors. Responsible for all recruitment and admissions activities in an assigned territory. INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH ANALYST: Missouri Western State University seeks applications for the position of Institutional Research Analyst. The IR analyst will extract, manage, analyze, and write reports (with visuals/graphic displays) to succinctly translate data for constituents both within and outside the University, for purposes of compliance with mandated reporting and for decision-making, planning, assessment, and accreditation with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

  • Internal/External Reporting: coordinates the institutional research function with various internal external constituents, including state and federal regulatory agencies. Ensures the integrity and validity of institutional data to support policy and decision-making for the University and prepares state and federal reports and surveys (e.g., IPEDS).
  • Reporting Compliance: follows professional ethical standards and understands the possible financial, accreditation and legal consequences to the University as part of this position.
  • Data Support: provides statistical support including data collection, development/programming of reports and systems to manage institutional and assessment data. Has a strong customer service orientation, provides quality training and participates in professional development to acquire new skills/competencies.
  • Data Analysis: uses advanced research and statistical methods to conduct comprehensive data analyses, develops institutional studies and provides data interpretations to assist in decision-making processes and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field of study emphasizing statistical research, analysis, interpretation, and reporting with five years of experience in state or federal reporting, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Proficient in the use of statistical software for data extraction, verification, and analysis.
  • Work independently, collaboratively, and possess effective organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with enterprise management systems, e.g. Banner.
  • Knowledge of research methods (e.g., quasi-experimental methodology, survey data) involving inferential statistics and analytics.
  • Experience working with large complex databases to statistically test and evaluate data.

  • Strong ability to manage concurrent projects, maintain attention to detail and a high standard of integrity.

ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY- ADJUNCT PROFESSOR- The Department of Engineering Technology at Missouri Western is seeking multiple applications for adjunct faculty positions for Spring 2020. The faculty will teach undergraduate courses in Construction Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology, which include electrical circuits, microcomputers, communication systems, mechanical systems, computer-aided drafting, construction management, estimating, materials, statics, manufacturing methods, etc. These are part-time, non-tenure track positions with a high possibility of reappointment. ECONOMICS- ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – (tenure-track) – The Department of Economics, Political Science, and Sociology at Missouri Western State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Economics at the Assistant Professor rank beginning January 2020.
