Major: Health Information Management
Sara Maxey said she always wanted to go back and get her degree, but she didn’t know what to major in. Then she heard about Missouri Western’s Health Information Management program.
“I’m the queen of research,” Sara says. “I realized it was an emerging field with great potential for growth, and it suited my skill set.”
Although she took many of her general studies classes on campus, Sara likes that all the classes for the HIM degree are online, which helps the mother of four balance home and school.
Her junior-year professional experience at Mosaic Life Care and Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center helped her blend her classroom experience with the working world, which was very beneficial.
“As a nontraditional student, Missouri Western has been very welcoming,” Sara said. “It really gives nontrads a lot of options.”
