Spring 2014 University Career Fair and Criminal Justice Day
The Missouri Western Career Development Center is pleased to announce the Spring 2014 University Career Fair and Criminal Justice Day on February 27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Fulkerson Center inside Spratt Hall. The event promises to provide an opportunity for students to meet employers recruiting for full-time and part-time positions, as well as applied learning opportunities such as internships and co-ops.
Students are encouraged to dress for success, bring resumes, and be prepared to network with employers. You may visit Career Development staff at the Career Nest each Wednesday in the Blum union, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., or contact the Career Development Center, Eder 202 for more information regarding this event.
College Republicans and College Democrats Meeting
The Missouri Western College Republicans and College Democrats will be holding a joint meeting this Thursday, February 27th at 7:00 p.m. in Spratt 205. At the meeting, students will discuss current events and begin planning the gun control symposium that the clubs will cohost later this semester. Snacks will be provided. All Missouri Western students and faculty are welcome.
Come prove yourself this year at Alpha Gamma Delta’s Mr. MWSU!
It will be held March 26 at 7 p.m. in Kemper Arena inside Spratt Hall. There will be an opening dance, a swimwear, an outfit of choice, talent and a formal question competitions.
Applicants must be nominated by a student organization and provide a $50 entrance fee with the application.
Application and fee are due by March 3 to any member of Alpha Gamma Delta, or placed in our mailbox in the Center for Student Engagement.
Tickets will be for sale for $3 per ticket before the show and $5 at the door.
All proceeds go to the awareness and education of diabetes.
Be a Registration Leader or Griffon Edge Leader for 2014
Griffon Edge Leaders are current students who lead groups of new freshmen through a three-day orientation program prior to the first week of fall semester.
Registration Leaders are current students who assist new students during the one-day summer registration programs in June and July They also get to be leaders for Griffon Edge 2014.

First Thursday Noontime Concert Series
Lee Harrelson, euphonium, with Ellen Bottorff, piano, will be featured in the next program of the First Thursday Downtown Noon Concert Series on Thursday, March 6, at 12:10–12:50 p.m. in the Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, 7th & Jules. The church sponsors the series in cooperation with the Missouri Western State University Department of Music. The audience is invited to bring lunch to eat during the performance. Beverages will be provided. There will be an opportunity to meet the musicians after the concert.
Eggs and Issues
Our next Eggs and Issues will be held at 7 a.m. Thursday, March 20 in the Fulkerson Center. The featured speaker is Andrea Gardner, "I Am Living Independently." As always the hot breakfast is free! Please make a reservation by March 17 by emailing Diane Holtz at or calling 271-5646. See you there!
Student Volleyball Association
Like playing volleyball? Then you'll like the Student Volleyball Association! We play volleyball every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Looney and we also have informational meetings every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Blum Lobby. We host tournaments and fundraisers every month. Attention all Veterans
MWSU chapter of Student Veterans of America will hold its meetings on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 11:00 a.m. for the spring semester at the Nontraditional and Commuter Student Center, Eder 200.
Student Veterans of America is a national organization whose mission is, "To provide military veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and following graduation."
Join us is making MWSU a part of the mission to help veterans succeed. Not a student but interested in SVA - join us, we would like to hear from you too.

Spanish Cultural Event
The Spanish Club, Amore Dance and Student Government Association are hosting a free salsa lesson! Feb. 26 at 5:30 pm in Blum 223.
Summer Graduation
The Registrar’s Office would like to remind all students who are planning on graduating this summer with a certificate, associate, baccalaureate or master’s degree the graduation application priority deadline is March 1.
Please note: an additional $25 late fee will be applied to applications received after the second day of the summer term. Applications are available in the Registrar’s Office Eder 102, or online at
Graduation applications received by the priority deadline are guaranteed to be reviewed prior to the start of the semester. Official graduation check will be emailed to your Missouri Western email account and to your advisor on record. Graduation applications received after the priority deadline will be reviewed and a graduation check completed in the order the application is received.
Get your ticket to the Spring Concert
Spring Concert the tickets are only $5. You can buy your ticket in the Center for Student Engagement (Blum 207) from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You must have your student ID to pick up your ticket and to attend the concert. The April 25 concert will feature B.O.B. and SOMO. Don't miss out on these nationally-known acts.
Golden Griffon Color Guard Tryouts
The Golden Griffon Color Guard is excited to kick off the 2014 season and is seeking new members with a little experience and a lot of enthusiasm! Tryouts will be held on the following Saturdays;
