Summer Graduation
The Registrar’s Office would like to remind all students who are planning on graduating this summer with a certificate, associate, baccalaureate or master’s degree the graduation application priority deadline is March 1.
Please note: an additional $25 late fee will be applied to applications received after the second day of the summer term. Applications are available in the Registrar’s Office Eder 102, or online at
Graduation applications received by the priority deadline are guaranteed to be reviewed prior to the start of the semester. Official graduation check will be emailed to your Missouri Western email account and to your advisor on record. Graduation applications received after the priority deadline will be reviewed and a graduation check completed in the order the application is received.
Spanish Cultural Event
The Spanish Club, Amore Dance and Student Government Association are hosting a free salsa lesson! Feb. 26 at 5:30 pm in Blum 223.
Come prove yourself this year at Alpha Gamma Delta’s Mr. MWSU!
It will be held March 26 at 7 p.m. in Kemper Arena inside Spratt Hall. There will be an opening dance, a swimwear, an outfit of choice, talent and a formal question competitions.
Applicants must be nominated by a student organization and provide a $50 entrance fee with the application.
Application and fee are due by March 3 to any member of Alpha Gamma Delta, or placed in our mailbox in the Center for Student Engagement.
Tickets will be for sale for $3 per ticket before the show and $5 at the door.
All proceeds go to the awareness and education of diabetes.
Last days to apply for Barbara Sprong Leadership Challenge
There are 2 days left to apply for this year's Barbara Sprong Leadership Challenge.The purpose of the Barbara Sprong Leadership Challenge is to provide Missouri Western students with an opportunity to acquire and enhance leadership skills so that they may assume leadership roles not only at Missouri Western but also following graduation. All full-time Missouri Western students who have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average are eligible to apply for the Leadership Challenge. Students who complete the program without absences will receive one hour of credit through the Western Institute (Motivation and Leadership: CED 121).

Spring 2014 Career Fair
The Missouri Western Career Development Center is pleased to announce the Spring 2014 University Career Fair and Criminal Justice Day on Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Fulkerson Center. The event promises to provide an opportunity for students to meet employers recruiting for full-time and part-time positions, as well as applied learning opportunities such as internships and co-ops. Students are encouraged to dress for success, bring resumes, and be prepared to network with employers. You may visit Career Development staff at the Career Nest each Wednesday in the Blum union, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m, or contact the Career Development Center, Eder 202 for more information regarding this event.
International Lecture Series - Mexico
International Student Services at Missouri Western State University invites you to attend the first Lecture Series for Spring 2014 on Mexico from 1 - 2 p.m. in Blum Union 222/223 on Tuesday, Feb. 25. This event is part of the International Lecture Series and will be presented by student Deir Montiel. Mexican desserts and appetizers will be served during the lecture. The event is free and open to the public. Please join us. On February 24, Campus Dining Services will prepare traditional Mexican food. Get your ticket to the Spring Concert
Spring Concert tickets are available now. The first 200 tickets are free, but they are going fast. After that, the tickets are only $5. You can buy your ticket in the Center for Student Engagement (Blum 207) from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You must have your student ID to pick up your ticket and to attend the concert. The April 25 concert will feature B.O.B. and SOMO. Don't miss out on these nationally-known acts.
Student Veterans Association
Student Veterans Association will be having a meeting on Thursday February 20 at 11:00 a.m. in Eder 200 the Non-Trad Center.
ROTC Training Excercises
Military Science Army ROTC cadets will be conducting situational training exercises West of the Conservation Department and North of the Sports Complex in the wooded areas on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They will be training with dummy rifles and will be in uniform. Please do not be alarmed if you see the cadets on the MWSU grounds.

Transportation and admission will be provided. "The Great Debaters" will be shown at 7 p.m. in the basement of Vaselakos Hall.
On Friday, the CME and Aramark are offering Soul Food Friday. Come try some great soul food offerings during lunchtime in the Dining Hall. Tickets are available in Blum 210. If you would like to attend the Black Heritage Ball, please RSVP by Friday. The Ball is Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in Blum 218-219.
Volunteer Opportunity
The Community Blood Center will hold its Celebration of Giving Annual Awards banquet in the Fulkerson Center on the Missouri Western campus on Thursday, March 6. The Blood Center is looking for two to four students to help register guests. Volunteers would report at 10:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 11 and the lunch at 11:30. Honors Students GameSHO Night
On Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Missouri Western Student Honors Organization will be hosting GameSHO Night, an event at which Missouri Western honors students can play games based on popular TV game shows such as Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune, socialize with other honors students, and win prizes. The event will take place in Blum 218 and 219, and will be open to all Missouri Western honors students. Admission is free.
Golden Griffon Color Guard Tryouts
The Golden Griffon Color Guard is excited to kick off the 2014 season and is seeking new members with a little experience and a lot of enthusiasm! Tryouts will be held on the following Saturdays;

Stress Reduction Workshop
Are you struggling with stress management or test anxiety? Join us for a workshop where you will learn how to reduce stress and anxiety to improve your performance. The Student Success and Academic Advising Center offers six convenient times to attend. Workshops are held in Eder 208 on the following days/times:
