How to Apply

The first step to success is completing an application to be a graduate student at Missouri Western.

All students must complete an online application for admission to the Graduate School.

PRIORITY APPLICATION DEADLINES

The priority deadlines are recommended for international applicants in order to process and review applications to allow adequate time for accepted international students to apply for and obtain a visa in time for the start of the indicated academic term.

All applications materials must be submitted by these deadlines to allow adequate time for review by the Admissions Office staff and graduate program admission committees.

Admission Requirements

General entrance to the Graduate School requires include

  • A minimum 2.75 undergraduate grade point average (GPA) based on a 4.0 scale or previously earned masters degree.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required for graduate admission.
  • An official transcript showing granting of a degree and official GPA is required from the institution that issued your bachelor’s degree or previous Master’s degree.

Additional Requirements

Some programs require GRE/GMAT scores, personal statements, letters of support, a separate application or the submission of specific materials (writing or artistic samples) for review prior to acceptance in the program. 

For programs requiring GRE score submission use 1434 to have your scores submitted automatically.

International Students

If you are a foreign national, please see the policy information on International Students All International students must provide an official transcript in English or an English translation. If we are unable to evaluate your transcript we reserve to right to require a course by course evaluation from a NACES accredited evaluation provider such as WES. Payment for external evaluation will be the applicant’s responsibility.

Applicants who are non-native speakers of English must demonstrate proficiency with the English language. Minimum test scores for TOEFL and  IELTS  listed below.

Student who possess a baccalaureate degree from a college or university in which instruction is given in English are exempt from this requirement. Tests taken more than two (2) years prior to the date of application cannot be accepted.

Missouri Western reserves the right to assess the quality of your English in addition to your TOEFL/IELTS scores (even if you come from an English speaking country). If you have not completed the TOEFL or IELTS exam (OR if you do not meet the above criteria), you may be admitted conditionally through the Intensive English Program (IEP) if necessary.
