How to Apply

The first step to success is completing an application to be a graduate student at Missouri Western.

All students must complete an online application for admission to the Graduate School.

Final application deadlines are July 15 for fall semesters, November 1 for spring semester and April 29 for the summer session. Priority application deadlines are May 15 for fall semester and October 15 for spring semester.  All applications materials must be submitted by these deadlines to allow adequate time for review by the Admissions Office staff and graduate program admission committees.

Admission Requirements

Entrance to the Graduate School requires a minimum 2.75 undergraduate grade point average (GPA) based on a 4.0 scale or previously earned masters degree. A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university is required for graduate admission. An official transcript showing granting of a degree and official GPA is required from the institution that issued your bachelor’s degree or previous Master’s degree.

Additional Requirements

Some programs require GRE/GMAT scores, personal statements, letters of support, a separate application or the submission of specific materials (writing or artistic samples) for review prior to acceptance in the program. 

For programs requiring GRE score submission use 1434 to have your scores submitted automatically.

International Students

If you are a foreign national, please see the policy information on International Students. All International transcripts must be evaluated by WES.

Applicants who are non-native speakers of English must pass Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 79 on the internet-based test or a receive a 6.0 academic IELTS score unless they possess a baccalaureate degree from a college or university in which instruction is given in English. Tests taken more than two (2) years prior to the date of application cannot be accepted.
