Merit Scholarships

A limited number of merit scholarships are available each semester and are awarded based on criteria including dedication to study or practice, talent, and potential. Scholarships are good for two consecutive semesters.

Students may apply for the Merit Award Scholarship by having a parent or other primary caregiver complete the application process. Along with the application, two required letters of recommendation must be included.

Only complete applications will be considered. Deadline for fall 2014 semester is September 17, 2014.

Financial Assistance/Hardship Scholarships

In addition to the free and reduced lunch tuition scale, The Center for Community Arts of Missouri Western State University’s Western Institute accepts applications for additional assistance to cover tuition fees and costume expense for Griffon Jr Singers and Symphonic Youth Orchestra. Awards will be considered for children from families demonstrating the highest level of financial need.

Awards will be determined by the Center for Community Arts Scholarship Committee. Recipients of financial aid are expected to maintain reasonable progress and attendance and if applicable, perform at least once during the semester at an outreach performance or community activity.

To be considered for financial aid, please complete the enclosed application and attach a copy of your most recent 1040 (or 1040EZ, etc). All wage earners in the household must submit a copy of their federal tax return. If your financial status has changed, please include official documentation of any additional changes in financial situation that occurred after filling out your tax return. This can include unemployment payment vouchers, severance documents, etc.

All financial information is kept strictly confidential.

Reduced Tuition Fees

Reduced tuition fees for Griffon Jr Singers and Symphonic Youth Orchestra are available for students qualifying for free and reduced lunches under Missouri’s current guidelines. In order to qualify, you must submit the free and reduced lunch form, signed and dated by a school  official, or you must submit your most recent 1040 (or 1040EZ, etc).

All wage earners in the household must submit a copy of their federal tax return.
