class=\"content-container\" style=\"color:#000000;\">\n<h4>Application Process for Federal Grant Programs<\/h4>\n<p>The first step in applying for Federal financial assistance is completion of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.ed.gov\/sa\/fafsa\">Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Be sure to indicate that you want your results forwarded to Missouri Western State University,\u00a0<strong>school code 002490<\/strong>\u00a0when completing the application.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>The Missouri Western State University\u00a0<\/strong><strong>priority deadline is February 1st each year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FAFSA applications are available each October and should be submitted online in early January to ensure the\u00a0February 1st priority deadline is met for\u00a0the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG). Keep in mind, that if you are selected for Verification, you should submit all requested documentation to the Office of Financial Aid prior to the February\u00a01st priority deadline date.<\/p>\n<p>FAFSA applications will continue to be accepted and processed after February 1st for the Federal Pell Grant, Stafford Loans, and PLUS Loans.<\/p>\n<h4>Federal Grant Programs<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Federal Pell Grant\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Pell Grant is the government\u2019s largest need-based student aid program and is considered the foundation to which aid from other federal, and non-federal sources might be added. The actual amount received depends on the financial information reported on the FAFSA and the student\u2019s enrollment status. Students must maintain\u00a0<a title=\"Satisfactory Academic Progress\" href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/finaid\/satisfactory-academic-progress-appeal\/\">Satisfactory Academic Progress<\/a>\u00a0to continue eligibility. These funds do not need to be repaid. The U.S. Department of Education has established limits regarding the amount of Federal Pell Grant students may receive (Pell Lifetime Eligibility). Students may receive the equivalent of 6 full-time years (12 full-time semesters) in Federal Pell Grant funding (assuming all eligibility criteria is met). As students begin approaching the Pell lifetime eligibility limit, they will receive notification on the Student Aid Report (SAR).\u00a0Once students have received the maximum, they will no longer be eligible to receive the Federal Pell Grant.<br \/>\n<strong>Application Procedures:<\/strong>\u00a0 Must complete the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.ed.gov\/sa\/fafsa\">Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)<\/a>\u00a0and submit any additional requested documents to the Office of Financial Aid.<br \/>\n<strong>Contact Information:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Office of Financial Aid at (816) 271-4361.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants<\/strong><br \/>\nSEOG is awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need.\u00a0 Priority is given to students who receive Federal Pell Grants. Awards may range from $100 up to $4,000 depending on need and availability of funds.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The average award at Missouri Western is $500 per year. Students are awarded U.S. Army ROTC scholarships through a highly competitive national selection process. Scholarships pay full college tuition and fees and provide a book allowance. Gilman International Scholarship Program<\/strong><br \/>\nThis congressionally funded program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and is administered by the Institute of International Education.
