Missouri Western\u2019s priority deadline for Federal aid and competitive scholarships is April 1. FAFSA applications should be submitted no later than the second week of March to ensure the priority deadline is met.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"8d0deba82f2c76de5\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#8d0deba82f2c76de5\" href=\"#8d0deba82f2c76de5\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 2: Apply for Admission to Missouri Western<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"8d0deba82f2c76de5\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p>Only those who have been officially admitted as degree-seeking students will be eligible to receive financial assistance at Missouri Western. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/admissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apply for Admission<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"1d746cd4542b3517c\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#1d746cd4542b3517c\" href=\"#1d746cd4542b3517c\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 3: Establish your Goldlink and Missouri Western Email Accounts<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"1d746cd4542b3517c\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you receive your acceptance letter, be sure to establish your Missouri Western email and <a href=\"https:\/\/experience.elluciancloud.com\/mwsu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Goldlink<\/a> accounts.\u00a0\u00a0You should continually monitor your financial aid status on <a href=\"https:\/\/experience.elluciancloud.com\/mwsu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Goldlink<\/a> and read all messages \u00a0sent to your Missouri Western email account. Students who opt out of receiving electronic communications should contact the Office of Financial Aid for additional information.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"0098eb9ba178be65c\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#0098eb9ba178be65c\" href=\"#0098eb9ba178be65c\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 4: Create an FSA ID<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"0098eb9ba178be65c\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FSA ID is a username and password required to log into U.S. Department of Education websites.\u00a0If you do not have an FSA ID, you can create one online at<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studentaid.gov\">studentaid.gov<\/a>. Your parent will also need to create an\u00a0FSA ID to electronically sign your FAFSA.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"eb301798a72400fc3\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#eb301798a72400fc3\" href=\"#eb301798a72400fc3\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 5: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"eb301798a72400fc3\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p>The FAFSA application is generally available each year starting on Oct. 1. You may complete the FAFSA online at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">studentaid.gov<\/a><\/strong>. Be sure to indicate that you want your results forwarded to Missouri Western State University, <strong>school code 002490.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once complete, your FAFSA application is submitted to the U.S. Department of Education and the information reported is used to determine your eligibility for need-based financial aid (Pell Grant, SEOG, Access Missouri, federal student loans, federal work-study, and Missouri Western competitive scholarships).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"a1f21e74b7ed0a603\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#a1f21e74b7ed0a603\" href=\"#a1f21e74b7ed0a603\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 6: Review Your FAFSA Submission Summary<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"a1f21e74b7ed0a603\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After your\u00a0FAFSA is submitted and processed, you can access your FAFSA Submission Summary\u2014an electronic or paper document that summarizes the information you reported on your FAFSA form. If you notice any errors or missing information, corrections can be made at <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">studentaid.gov<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"d5dba4133078251b1\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#d5dba4133078251b1\" href=\"#d5dba4133078251b1\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 7: Complete Verification (Only if Notified by Missouri Western)<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"d5dba4133078251b1\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p>The U.S. Department of Education uses a process called verification to check the accuracy of student financial aid application data. Most applicants are selected by the Department of Education for verification at random. However, some are selected due to missing or inconsistent information.<\/p>\n<p>If you are selected for verification, Missouri Western will notify you of the documents required to complete the application process. Keep in mind that your application will not be processed until ALL requested documents are submitted to the Financial Aid Office, all discrepancies are resolved and the necessary corrections are submitted to, and processed by, the U.S. Department of Education.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"e2827552fd9904078\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#e2827552fd9904078\" href=\"#e2827552fd9904078\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 8: Review Your Aid Offer<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"e2827552fd9904078\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An email will be sent to your Missouri Western email address when your aid offer is available. You may access your information and accept offered awards online through <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/goldlink.missouriwestern.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Goldlink<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"26372bbe493e1ccc3\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#26372bbe493e1ccc3\" href=\"#26372bbe493e1ccc3\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 9: Apply for Missouri Western Aid Opportunities<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"26372bbe493e1ccc3\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New and returning students may apply for Missouri Western competitive scholarship opportunities beginning in October each year. Unless otherwise specified in the scholarship description, students should have a complete Admissions and Financial Aid file no later than April 1 to be considered. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missouriwestern.edu\/finaid\/scholarship-opportunities\/\">General Scholarship Application<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"1e6dd766bb68c5b17\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#1e6dd766bb68c5b17\" href=\"#1e6dd766bb68c5b17\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 10: Apply for Aid Opportunities Outside of Missouri Western<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"1e6dd766bb68c5b17\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p>Many opportunities for financial assistance exist through private sources. While you are encouraged to explore all opportunities available to you, Missouri Western cautions the use of outside agencies who charge a fee and guarantee financial assistance. Many scholarship and financial aid scams exist. For more information concerning scholarship scams, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/resources\/scams\">studentaid.gov\/resources\/scams<\/a> or visit the Federal Trade Commission website at\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.ftc.gov<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"2b9d5490f8d016adf\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#2b9d5490f8d016adf\" href=\"#2b9d5490f8d016adf\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 11: Determine if you need to borrow Federal Direct Loans (Optional)<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"2b9d5490f8d016adf\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the general application procedures (Steps 1 \u2013 7), you must complete the following steps when accepting Federal Direct Loans. Remember to borrow only what you absolutely need to cover your educational expenses<\/span><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Determine how much you should borrow by comparing your institutional charges to your offered awards.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Accept only the amount you need to borrow on\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/goldlink.missouriwestern.edu\/cp\/home\/loginf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Goldlink<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Complete a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/app\/launchMpn.action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Master Promissory Note<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0online (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">first-time borrowers).<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. Complete\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/app\/counselingInstructions.action?counselingType=entrance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Entrance Loan Counseling<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0online (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">first-time borrowers).<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default fusion-toggle-no-divider fusion-toggle-boxed-mode\" role=\"tabpanel\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-selected=\"false\" aria-controls=\"5821a49c44e619528\" role=\"tab\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-770-1\" data-target=\"#5821a49c44e619528\" href=\"#5821a49c44e619528\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">STEP 12: Apply for Federal Plus Loans (Optional)<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"5821a49c44e619528\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the general application procedures (Steps 1 -7), eligible parents and graduate students must do the following when applying for a PLUS Loan.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complete the PLUS Loan application on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/app\/launchPLUS.action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>studentaid.gov<\/b><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sign a Master Promissory Note online at\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/app\/launchPLUS.action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>studentaid.gov<\/b><\/a><b>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents must complete the PLUS Loan Acceptance Form.
