Missouri Western Scholarships – Non-Traditional Student

Ambassadors Non-Traditional Student Scholarship
Scholarships will be awarded to part- or full-time students who are 25 years of age or older. Must have at least a 2.5 GPA, be degree-seeking and be able to show financial need.

Corinne Hancock Memorial Scholarship
The recipient of this scholarship may be of any major and any class year. Recipient must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Financial need may be a consideration with preference given to single parents. Two references required. May be renewed if criteria is maintained.

Doris and Earl Dawson Non-Traditional Student Scholarship
A scholarship for non-traditional students with preference given to students continuing their education after raising children. Two references and a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required and financial need is a consideration.

Enright Family Scholarship
The Enright Family Scholarship is awarded to full- or part-time students who are 25 years or older. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA, be degree-seeking and be able to show financial need.

Eugene S. Juda Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students
This scholarship is awarded to non-traditional students who are half-time or full-time, can show financial need and have at least average grades.

First Ladies Legacy Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of First Ladies Dorsey Looney and Lauren Scanlon to recognize the contributions Dorsey and Lauren made to Missouri Western during their time as First Ladies of the university. Applicants must be non-traditional students with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Gina Welsh Compton Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time non-traditional student who has minor (under 17) children at home and who maintains a 2.5 GPA. Three references are required. Financial need must be demonstrated.

Hiller Family Foundation Scholarship
Non-traditional students applying to college for the first time or who last attended college three or more years ago and have completed fewer than 30 credit hours. Recipients must maintain at least nine credit hours each semester. A GPA of 2.5 is required to maintain the scholarship in the second semester and to qualify for renewal. Students must submit a letter describing their educational goals and financial need.  Financial need is a consideration.

Kelsey Brown Cooper Beshears Scholarship
This scholarship has been established in memory of Kelsey Brown Cooper Beshears, a well-known civil rights leader and a St. Joseph business woman. This scholarship will be awarded to non-traditional Students. Students must maintain at least a GPA of 2.5. Criteria is based on participation in community activities and financial need.

Lingle Family Scholarship
The Lingle Family Scholarship assists women 25 years of age or older who are returning to school. They must take at least six credit hours, be progressing toward a specific degree and demonstrate financial need.

Mignon Deshon Ambassadors Scholarship
This endowed scholarship will be given to a full-time, second-semester freshman, 25 years of age or older, with a 3.5 GPA and two references. The recipient will receive the award each year as long as a 3.5 GPA is maintained and the recipient re-applies thru the scholarship process.

Mildred Gumm Scholarship
The Mildred Heim Gumm Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a non-traditional student who has earned a minimum 2.75 GPA. The recipient must be at least 25 years of age, degree-seeking, full- or part-time and in need of financial assistance.

Non-Traditional Student Transfer Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to Missouri Western students who have completed 60 hours at a junior or community college with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. This award is restricted to students who are enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours but less than 12 credit hours. Applicants must demonstrate that they work 20 hours or more per week and provide a personal statement that indicates the reasons why they cannot attend Missouri Western on a full-time basis. This scholarship is limited to eight semesters. The scholarship is worth an amount up to $750 per semester. A 3.00 cumulative GPA is required for renewal.

Peggy Juda Re-Entry Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to non-traditional students who are half-time or full-time, can show financial need and have at least average grades to be used for books.

Rod & Ann Fletcher Single Parent Scholarship
Available for full-time students who meet the following criteria: candidates must be a single parent of a child/children under the age of 18 years and living in the same household, must have completed at least 30 credit hours and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Financial need will be a consideration.

Senior Citizen Registration
Persons 65 years of age or older may register for undergraduate courses as a non-degree seeking student without payment of tuition but may be subject to fees and other expenses. All senior citizens should make their status known to the Financial Aid Office (Eder Hall 103) during registration to assure correct fee assessment. Senior citizens desiring to register for CED courses as non-credit seeking students should contact the Western Institute Office.


St. Joseph Eastside Rotary Club Scholarship
This scholarship has been established by the St. Joseph Eastside Rotary Club to assist non-traditional students with financial need. Applicants must be full time sophomore, junior, or senior non-traditional students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who are in good standing with the university. Preference will be given to applicants who have performed school and community service activities. This scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient meets criteria and completes the University’s general scholarship application.

Student must be full-time junior or senior majoring in business or education with minimum GPA of 3.0 and classified as non-traditional student.

Wilfred H. & Mary Kisker Scholarship
The family of Wilfred H. & Mary Kisker have established an endowed scholarship for a non-traditional, full-time, degree-seeking student. This individual must have a GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated financial need.
