The Student Emergency Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to Missouri Western State University undergraduate or graduate students who are in danger of withdrawing due to unanticipated, temporary financial hardships resulting from emergency or crisis situations (e.g., accident, illness, death of a family member). Funds will be awarded as a scholarship to help alleviate short-term financial needs.
Scholarship cannot exceed $1,000.
Scholarship may be awarded ONCE during a student’s academic career.
Scholarship does not have to be repaid.
A student must be enrolled in and attending at least 6 financial aid eligible credits for the semester in which funds are being requested (must be attending summer classes to be considered for funds during the summer).
A student must be a degree-seeking student in good academic standing with minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
A student must be experiencing an unexpected financial hardship resulting from an emergency or crisis situation that threatens your ability to successfully complete the current semester.
The student must have exhausted all other possible financial resources before applying for student emergency funds, such as student loans, Medicaid, personal financial accounts, and community resources.
The student must provide sufficient documentation of financial need (e.g., billing statements, receipts, etc.).
The student must have completed the general scholarship application prior to Feb. 1.
The student must also submit an online hardship application along with the appropriate documentation.
