Since its introduction in 1982 at Texas A&M, The Big Event has become the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation. Each spring, tens of thousands of college students across the U.S. come together in service to say “Thank You” to the residents of their community. Missouri Western is proud to join this movement for our 3rd annual “The Big Event”.

Hosted by the MWSU Student Government Association and the MWSU Center for Service.

About our 2024 project:

Mount Mora Cemetery is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and is home to the final resting place of many historic figures and St. Joseph elite. From the Civil War to the Pony Express, Jesse James or the Great Westward Movement, you will find many interesting stories within the gates of Mount Mora.

We will be tidying up the neighborhood around the cemetery before the busy travel season begins, bringing in visitors from all over the world who are interested in the history of St. Joseph.
