Experience in the field is beneficial to each student\u2019s education, and nearly 70% of students in the engineering technology program are involved in practical learning experiences both on- and off-campus through internships, research projects, and other hands-on activities.<\/p>\n

Internships<\/h3>\n

Internships provide students with a valuable hands-on experience that is difficult to duplicate in the classroom. Students are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to participate in internships and practicums offered by local and regional industries.<\/p>\n

Part-time Jobs<\/h3>\n

Part-time jobs and internships with engineering, electronics, manufacturing, and construction companies are available, and companies with international recognition, such as Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., Altec Industries, Inc., Herzog Contracting Corporation, Garney Construction, and Johnson Controls offer beneficial internship programs to our students.<\/p>\n

Research<\/h3>\n

Students are also encouraged to work one-on-one with faculty members in their research. Work on independent and team research projects prove valuable for preparing students for their careers.<\/p>\n

State-of-the-art Equipment<\/h3>\n

In the classroom, Missouri Western has state-of-the-art testing and troubleshooting equipment that is used in all the engineering technology programs. With access to this equipment, students receive excellent hands-on laboratory experiences.<\/p>\n

Conferences<\/h3>\n

Students also have the opportunity to enhance their education by attending professional associations\u2019 conferences, including:<\/p>\n

  • The American Concrete Institute<\/li>\n
  • The Society of Manufacturing Engineers<\/li>\n

  • The Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Several of our students have received national recognition from external technical societies through undergraduate awards. They have also been selected to make presentations at state and national conferences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>
