Why I’m a Griffon: Opportunities to volunteer in the community.

AJ Jones came to Missouri Western as a transfer student, knowing that there was more to a good education than what happens in the classroom.

“I always look for an environment with people you can learn from and continue to grow. And that’s what I found at Missouri Western.”

Part of his growth was the ability to volunteer and make a difference. The service learning aspect gave AJ the chance to help others.

“I loved the amount of volunteer opportunities at Missouri Western,” AJ relates. “I was able to be involved in several service learning projects including one in St. Louis and one with local high school students.”

His experience in and out of the classroom led to an internship and job offer before graduation at Black & Veatch, a global engineering, consulting and construction company.

“Missouri Western offers classes that companies are looking for,” Aaron said. “And the professors are great.”
