Media Lab: Our computer lab is equipped with the latest versions of Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro editing software on 20 Macintosh computer stations. A large HD projection screen and full surround sound provide the ultimate viewing experience. Students gain extensive hands-on experience with popular software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Logic Studio, Soundbooth, Dreamweaver, Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Live Type, Color, ProTools, Reason, Reaktor, Ableton Live, and real-time signal processing environments including SuperCollider. Also available is the latest version of Maya 3D animation software. Graduate students have access to additional labs and software on campus.
Graduate Editing Suites: Two individual editing suites contain Macintosh Pro stations equipped with additional memory for enhanced processing speed. Large computer monitors facilitate production and workflow, each output to a high-definition television screen to show how a piece will be seen on broadcast media. One suite features a complete surround sound system ready to help you create high-energy three-dimensional sound with your project.
Studio and Sound Stage: The campus studio housed in Hearnes Center is available for students to use for their projects and has a set, green screen for special effects, and a computerized lighting grid.
Recording Facilities and Equipment: Two Wenger isolation rooms are available for recording clean audio. Each features built in reverberation settings to emulate different physical spaces and recordings made in the room can be transferred using any USB storage device. Additionally, two large ensemble rehearsal rooms are hard wired into a ProTools HD control room with C24 mixing board. There is an additional ProTools system overlooking the Potter Hall Theater stage. Students have opportunities for on-site recording using portable devices and multi-channel surround recording using a Holophone 5.1 microphone. There are three surround sound monitoring locations.
Checkout Equipment: Our latest addition to student equipment checkout is the Canon 5D Mark II DSLR camera. Utilizing CMOS chip technology and full 35mm frame size, this camera is ideal for both still shots and capturing high quality HD video footage in 1080i. Known for its capabilities in low light and its film look, this cutting edge camera will enhance any media application on the web or broadcast.
